Now that you mention it "Murder in Pleasantview by Alexander Goth" could have been about Skip Broke's "suspicious" pool ladder accident instead of Bella Goth's disappearance. Maybe everyone got confused because it was published by Alexander and everyone assumed he wrote a book about his mother and not his neighbour. That would send the Sim community in a tizzy wouldn't it?

I never even thought about that. However, I do find it odd that he'd write about his dead neighbor, unless Alexander had a strong relationship with Skip before Skip died. Or maybe Brandi or whoever murdered Skip was also involved with Bella's disappearance?

@@classiccustoms2010 i mean Skip's death could've been a topic of interest to Alexander. Is not uncommon for writers to be inspired by different stories that are like town lore or friends of friends of friends stories. So it isn't that rare.

I got it! "Murder in Pleasant View" has Skip Broke as a protagonist and it's an advice to Sims who read it to beware of pools without ladders and has instructions to get out without them. That's why you cannot kill Sims this way in Sims 3 but you could do it in Sims 2.

I'll tell you this. It's definitely scripted/coded in The Sims 2, that she the real/original Bella became pregnant, the child concived would ONLY - and I know this for a fact because I tested it out a dozen times in game - result in a little GIRL being born. I tried this with both clone Bella and real Bella ("resurrected" by eliminating the death token in SimPE, so she doesn't disappear).... mind you I only tried it via INSiminator and with only Mortimer as the chosen father, but I was beyond shocked that out of the, at least 10 times (one after another) I made real Bella become pregnant, it was a girl. Every single time!!! Clone Bella is a bit of a different story... it will be a girl the first time she becomes pregnant and then it will be random. But real Bella's scripted pregnancy outcome gave me the chills, after finding out about this theory, I kid you not!!!😬

A couple of things (from a technical point of view): - Chemistry is also decided by aspirations. Mortimer, as a Knowledge Sim, is very incompatible with Bella, a Romance Sim. Two Romance Sims, Bella and Don, are very compatible so I'm not surprised they get 2 or 3 thunderbolts of chemistry. Zodiac signs also play a role. In the case of Morty and Bella, they're both Cancers, so they get no extra points or points substracted. - It would be interesting to test this out in an UNPATCHED base game, without Nightlife installed. Since there's no chemistry system, I predict Mortimer and Bella will get along better. - Sims only get the memory of WooHooing with another Sim the FIRST time the WooHoo. The cinematic also plays only once. Every time the WooHoo from then on, they don't get a memory. - Once again, if Bella had had an affair and Mortimer found out about it, there will be a memory of that. We CANNOT ignore the mechanics of the game just because they don't fit our narrative. Yes, there are many Sims with incomplete data, but as far as we know, Mortimer isn't one of them. Her data is perfectly intact and a memory of such event would be present if it happened.

1. Bella didn’t change to the other Bella, her icon ”pose” just did. 2. Bella and Mortimer probably didn’t woohoo just once. The game only registers it in the memories the first time a sim woohoo with someone. You can try it yourself in game and you’ll see. 3. Sure, if you want to believe that Bella and Mortimer is divorced or seperated, you could. But Alex Plays Sims uses the memories to argue his points, so it does make sense to critizise his theory based on them as well. And personally I just think he claims a lot of things based on inconclusive evidence. Besides there is a lot of interesting (if not even more so) things you can find about Bellas disappearance and the aliens as a whole by actually looking at what is suggested by the game itself. Things that even the most veteran players seem to miss. 4. As fun the theory of ”TS4 takes place in an alternate reality created by Alexander Goth” is. I kind of think that the book ”Murder in Pleasantview” is about Skip Broke, since he is the only mysterious (and confirmed) death that happened in Pleasantview. Which is interesting, because you could start to wonder why Alexander would think it was important to tell this story rather than the one about his own mother? And start to speculate about if the events are related to eachother somehow…

In the sims psp version Bella goth is in strange town and it strongly suggests it is the real Bella Goth. I believe even the sims 2 team of actually confirmed Bella in strange town is the real Bella however that’s not as fun is it? I really wish the sims team would do a video or something telling us the story but I think it’s left open for a reason.

With Bella being a Romance Sim, I don't think she was interpreted as the romance sim simmers know as. I always saw her more as a Hopeless Romantic Romance Sim (Dating multiple people AT A TIME until you find your soulmate.) I don't see her as a woman who dates many men at once. Hell she even rejected Don Lothario, The ULTIMATE womanizer. I do think that Mortimer was Bella's soulmate. Otherwise like many other romance sims, she would have been left the relationship a long time ago and possibly never would have had Cassandra and Alexander

1. Memories only show one instance of woohoo with each individual, unless it is a public woohoo, otherwise romance Sims would inevitably break the game, with all woohoo activities. 2. No one has a memory of Bella's cheating. In fact, romance sims are hard-coded to have negative attraction towards the aspirations of knowledge and family (without mods, that is still the same, even with secondary aspirations added). 3. There are no memories to support separation theories. Even if they separated, yet remained living together, Bella and Mortimer's relationship would likely be negative, especially considering how hard-coded Romance and Knowledge Sims in regards to negative attraction. Since the chemistry system of attraction was actually introduced in Nightlife, perhaps try resurrecting Bella, with only the base game installed (not certain that it can be done), and perhaps different outcomes would arise? Since the developers never fleshed out the Romance aspiration to have distinct features (i.e. serial romance/soul mate), as they did in the Sims 3, nor did they address it when adding the ability to add in secondary aspirations, without mods all Romance Sims, left to their own devices, will always become serial romancers. 4. As for Bella dying following the birth of Mathilde, she died of old age, so this kind of debunks that theory. I believe that due to her being pregnant, a clone was sent back to Pleasantview, but crash landed in Strangetown, whereby her injuries caused complete memory loss. After giving birth to Mathilde, Bella's longing for home just got in the way of the aliens wanting to develop the very life extending elixir that Bella had successfully consumed. Due to her lack of cooperation, her daughter was moved to a host family, and both mother and child's memories were wiped. After all, Bella does become their savior, and is elevated to icon status on Lunar Lakes, as well as Belladonna Cove. 5. With the addition of the element of magic being added to canonical series, there are a plethora of methods that could easily explain and fill in the gaps (i.e. personality and memory wiping). 6. As I commented in your last video, there are discrepancies: Relationships decay (although the rapid decay between Mortimer and Bella was definitely far more drastic, as the game did not originally add in the BFF's status until later to slow the process), and the time between Bella's abduction and Mortimer's budding romance with Dina, was developed years after Bella's abduction, not rapidly, as everyone keeps claiming (Alexander was a toddler, he is now a child, almost a teen, and Cassandra was a teen, and is now an adult). 7. I will say this over and over, the developers did Bella dirty, giving her the Romance aspiration. Bella's relationship with Mortimer in nearly every itineration has always been BFF to soulmate status. Coupled with the removal of relationship ties, upon death (in Sims 2), the actual available gameplay elements existing only in the base game, it was quite clear that Bella was not meant to be resurrected (otherwise they would have given her personality points and memories to reflect her former existence). Bella is not dead, and the only reason she does have the "I am dead" token, is so that the player can have Mortimer be able to move on. In real life, in all instances of disappearances, there does come a point in time whereby the missing is declared "dead." 8. I might be in the minority, but I truly adore Mortimer, and I do actually see his soulmate, Bella, as something that transcends time, no matter how I ever choose to play their characters. They never did Bella dirty. They did exactly what they wanted. She is a romance sim. The intrigue of her disappearance is exactly what they went for. Seems to me they played on the classic small town, highschool romance bullshit and then lost the plot because of EA giving zero fucks about lore.

@@Kabotynka I think you are correct about the reasoning for Romance. I also do believe that the developers tried to make it have two aspects: Soul Mate, instead of the one: Serial Romancer (which is hard-coded in the game). Freetime added in the ability to have a secondary aspiration, but although it certainly allowed more depth, it did not alter the attraction system implemented in Nightlife. I think they did get a lot of flack for this, especially due to the extreme jealousy even with those who are just Romance, so in Sims 3 they scrapped aspirations for the trait system. Although one can tweak a Sims personality, they dropped their personalities and interests, even their likes/dislikes/hobbies which were added in later, in the base game, merely offered (at max), 5 traits. While one could be a Serial Romancer or a Soulmate seeker, only their traits and later their star signs made up their personalities. Of course, they did add in rewards that helped (but they did not really alter personalities, but added like a magical depth). Then there is Sims 4 (can't say much here, while I own the base game and a couple expansions, I just find it rather boring), which tried to tie the two versions of Bella into one sim. To me, it was just trying to appease both sides, without appeasing either. Bella is still an icon, whichever way you spin her, but Sims 4 just falls short (imo).

Without considering glitches/developers forgotten developments and taking the timeline and story as is with no add-ins: Because there is no memory of Bella cheating, because her brother Michael invented cloning that results in a boy, and considering the dysfunction between Bella and Mortimer after originally being close as children... Could Bella have a secret which contributes to her own disappearance? Could Bella have been a clone sooner than later? Could Bella have sent her clone back to the past? Could Alexander be a clone? Could this be why Alexander has the secret memory of Bella and why he doesn't know his uncle?

I cannot seem to find any Sim cannon information that links Michael Bachelor to inventing the cloning machine, only that there are 2 distinctly different ghost versions of Michael, as well as Skip Broke, Darleen Dreamer, etc., as well as duplicate npc sims with little to no data (i.e. neutral high witches), even another Nervous Subject. With that said, especially noting the last one, I kind of suspect that it could be Michael Bachelor, could very well be the Beakers, or could be the very aliens that were introduced as playable Sims in the Sims 2. The development team's errors logically explain it, without need to conjure up theories, but for the Sim Lore Theorists (myself included), we use their errors and their character differences throughout every itineration to try and see how they might weave characteristics for us theorists to draw our own conclusions, which incidentally are all over the place. Now to my questions: 1. What gives you the impression that Michael Bachelor invented a cloning machine? 2. Why do you theorize that Bella was cloned prior to other theories? 3. How do you come to the conclusion that Bella and Mortimer's relationship was indeed dysfunctional (Besides their decayed relationship scores, which can be simply explained by lack of interactions over a period of a few sim years or the only spinoff to make claim that Bella never loved Mortimer, but was only after his money, making that sound to not be the real Bella, because in nearly every itineration their relationship scores are at max or close to max)? 4. Which Bella would send her clone back in time and how would she (alone or with help) have achieved this? 5. I am confused to your Alexander theory...Didn't Michael die before Alexander was born? I cannot go in game, because I am currently downloading the entire Sims 3 Store, and have to reinstall Sims 2. I do think that his lack of knowing that Bella was abducted was merely an oversight of the dev's, but I kind of like to theorize that Bella returned home, and Alexander was the only one to witness Bella's alien abduction (since it could not have happened from Don's balcony, unless mods or cheats were used), the aliens wiped his memories of the instance. 6. Lastly, what secret might that be to draw the conclusion that Bella was a party to her own disappearance? I am fascinated by your questions, as now I want to see how you draw conclusions. If you would like to see a few takes on this Lore, I suggest 3 youtubers: Rémi Marocelli (has an entire machinima series about Bella Goth, which actually is in line with your questioning of cloning, and when it may have taken place, sooner than we thought, or later, because there are alternate universes/timelines, i.e. Sims 4, Sims 1, Sims 2, not certain if Sims 3 was in there too), ZeeGee Sims (another machinima series, beginning with Cornelia and Agnes Crumplebottom), and Marticore (she has videos regarding the clones, as well as Bella Goth from a gameplay perspective).

Just a few technical points (I love your vids, please don’t interpret this as being rude/condescending): The changing sim thumbnail happens when you have Apartment Life installed. The thumbnail changes when you change outfits or sometimes leave the lot/vanish. Bella was disapproving of Cass and Don being romantic because shy and/or serious sims will react negatively to PDA (due to her having no personality points) while playful and outgoing sims will approve. Sims in sims 2 only get one memory for woohoo for the first time. Unless it’s a public woohoo after regular woohoo. Even then, they only get one memory. You are right to not trust memories 100% as there are definitely errors and things overlooked. Speculation: The romance aspiration seems to have been changed before launch as Herb Oldie has positive memories of commitment. Perhaps it was more of a “soulmate” aspiration. This again, is just speculation. Mathilde Goth could be a clone of Bella that’s heavily altered. In the Sims 3, alien pregnancy works a little different as it’s more of a host type situation where even elders can give birth to them. What if the aliens who worshipped Bella wanted to immortalize her beauty? They clone her but Bella leaves to be with other sims before she passes away for comfort as she never reunited with her family. She gives away Mathilde, hoping she will have a better life, then passes from old age. Again, love your videos and I hope you are doing well. Looking forward to your next video!

To be fair Pleasantview is a "Twin Peaks" kind of town... Someone disappears and everyone is a suspect, I don't think even the developers know who was it to have her kidnapped, it was meant to be a mistery.

Yeah so I think that maybe Bella was a test subject for all of those Mortimer and Michael experiments - they tested on her that life elixir and it went all good (so you can buy it for happiness points), so then they started experiments with their cloning machine - and then something went wrong (there is no cloning machine in game) so they had to get rid of Skip, the original Bella (or anything was left of her) and maybe her clone survived (but it's not a "perfect" clone - like I said something went wrong) and they weren't able to just simply kill her, so they made up this "abduction" story to explain why she's missing and there is a clone of her in Strangetown. This will also explain other "Bellas" like Mathilde - they are all almost identical to original Bella because they are imperfect clones and Bella's romance aspiration - which is basically that she would do anything for love (for her love to Mortimer) even if that involves being a test subject for his experiments. Also it explains Alexander's book - because it was technically a murder, and the invention of time machine - so he could go back in time and prevent her death.

While I can see your theory as plausible, it does not fit in with the Base Game Lore of Sims 2, for Bella was not dead, she was missing. The only reason she had the "I am dead" token, was so that Mortimer could move on, much like irl, whereby there comes a point in time when a missing person is declared dead. Another aspect overlooked, in the Sims 2, relationships can be one-sided, and because of relationship decay (it went down quickest in the Base game), there is no true method to distinguish either actual relationship status, but if we were to try to try to establish a basic understanding of what that status might have been, at the time of Bella's abduction (memories do not lie, unlike irl, and could not be wiped until they added magic in the final Sims 2 expansion), going by their relationship status in nearly every canonical/spinoff series, Bella and Mortimer ranged from BFF to Soulmates (according to their relationship scores), ergo, not only was Bella in love with Mortimer, but Mortimer has always been in love with Bella. As for the multiple clones, most of that can be easily explained by the developers creating different versions, but simply forgetting to delete the data for former versions. Also, because the game would be broken to add in the Bella from Pleasantview to Strangetown, due to the inability to keep relationship ties and memories, Strangetown Bella had to be a clone without memories. The theories surrounding cloning do add spice to the game, and even I implement them towards my storytelling, as well. But I do not see Mathilde as a clone, but as the daughter of the real Bella Goth (she was abducted and brought to Lunar Lakes by aliens who were a dying species, and Bella alone was the only sim that had consumed the elixir of life that could inevitably save them from their demise). They sent her clone back to Pleasantview, but as we all know, that ship crash landed in Strangetown. I theorize that she lost her memories, due to her injuries in the crash. As for the real Bella, I theorize that her longing was too immense for reuniting with her husband and children, along with the birth of her third child, that the aliens had to wipe both mother and daughter's memories, so that Bella would comply. Bella becomes their savior. It is so interesting all the different theories, yours included, that we all breathe into these pixel characters. Keep on storytelling❣

I have a lot of feelings about the Bella disappearance thing. For one I don’t believe Bella had an affair. It’s easy to point towards Skip because you can’t double check either of their memories. Despite being a romance sim, I just don’t see Bella as one to cheat. Especially since she turned down Don, the only woman to do so in town. I think the timing of everything gets confused a lot. For example, it looks like Don just jumped straight from Bella to Cassandra from his memories. But when you look at Cassandra’s memories a lot happened in between the two events (she had a birthday, her grandmother died, and she started her job). It’s possible that other events took longer than it seems, such as Mortimer getting with Dina. I also think Dina and Nina HAD to have some sort of relation to what happened. I find it hard to believe that they would be the ONLY family in Pleasantview with alien relations if it meant nothing. I also wonder if Bella really got abducted at Don’s house. The albums only state that it was the last place she was seen (reportedly by her neighbors) but Don doesn’t remember her abduction, yet Mortimer and Cassandra do. Seems like they wouldn’t be as certain if they weren’t there to see it, and Don would certainly remember a lady flying up into the sky on his deck! Makes me wonder if Mortimer planned it, and maybe Bella was in on it, but it all went awry because she was unknowingly pregnant. Maybe it was something through his scientist career, hence the large sum of money soon after? And when she didn’t return he panicked and started the missing persons search. I also feel like if Mortimer and Bella did have a falling out he would have some kind of related memories. Like a memory for no longer being best friends. I find it hard to believe that if the sims team wanted to break up the poster couple there would be better hints than broken relationships you can only see with cheats.

I think Mathilde might be a descendant of Bella since Lunar Lakes takes place way in the future. I don’t think she is directly her daughter unless their might have been a wormhole she was sucked into.

I love all this story telling and speculation. The community is so creative and imaginative. When in reality it's probably just Maxis messing up and making mistakes and just not thinking that we'll ever have access to tools such as SimPE to have a look into the game files!

Personally, I believe the Goths weren't divorced or separated at all. It's likely the developers never intended for people to bring Bella back at all (maybe resurrection wasn't a feature yet?) and, like most unintended plot-holes in the franchise, any inconsistencies are most likely the result of bugs, overlooked problems, or quick fixes. I think they intended Bella to be a "soulmate" type sim, while Mortimer was supposed to be the reserved, bookish intellectual type - it would make sense given their Adams family inspirations. That's why they were given the romance and knowledge aspirations (they were the best fit they had) and because you were never supposed to have them interact (because Bella's gone), the "romance and knowledge sims don't get along" aspect wouldn't need to be 'fixed'. Also, keep in mind that Sims 2 came out before Sims 3, even if it comes after it chronologically in the timeline. Initially, Strangetown Bella was probably supposed to be the actual real Bella - the 'she's not the real Bella' argument falls apart when you actually think about it realistically: she was probably made by a different team member and she can't be related to the rest of her family for the same reason you can't reunite them (different worlds). But, as the years went on and Bella's disappearance became so popular as a story line, Maxis started leaning into the mystery. They started playing around with different possible futures for Bella: time travel to a distant space colony, being worshiped by a group of aliens, etc. When it came to Sims 3, the next mainline game, they threw in a bunch of possibilities and red-herrings... while also reaffirming the storybeats from Sims 2 that people were beginning to question: they made Bella and Mortimer into the lovebirds they always intended them to be.

I say this because if Mortimer knew exactly what happened to Bella, but was sure that nobody but him would find out, or that nobody would believe anyone if they tried to lay the blame of the disappearance on him, then it wouldn't hurt to make a search for Bella. In fact, it could help drive suspicion away from Mortimer, as he could be seen as "the loving husband who's desperately looking for his missing wife," plus if he is a little psychotic, mildly or otherwise, then he may even get some enjoyment from setting up the missing person's search, fully aware that Bella, or at least his Bella, will not be found.

Mortimer being a psycho makes sense to me. Before my sims 2 game crashed, I had the ts3 personality traits mod. From what I could remember, Mortimer's personality trait was Genius, Grumpy, Bookworm, Never Nude & Insane/Unstable (randomized for my gameplay story). When things don't go his way, he becomes very aggressive (picking fights), making everyone's life a living hell.

I think the fans gave them a lot of flack for that, because in nearly every itineration that preceded and succeeded, Bella and Mortimer have near maxed relationship scores. Since the attraction system was not implemented until the 1st expansion pack "NightLife," and Bella is not dead (only having an "I am dead" token, so Mortimer can move on), their low relationship scores are due to zero interactions over the period of several sim years. Romance and Popularity Sims relationship scores decay the fastest (that is hard-coded in the game mechanics). And it wasn't until "FreeTime" that BFF'S were introduced, to slow that decay. Personally, I was appalled at that concept when playing it on the PSP (because I view Bella and Mortimer as they were originally created: inspired by the "Addams Family," Morticia and Gomez). If you would like some interesting takes on the Goth Lore, three youtubers come to mind, Rémi Marocelli, ZeeGee Sims (both with machinimas), and Marticore (via gameplay mechanics). The Lore surrounding the the Bachelors and Crumplebottoms are mystical and magical. While I can see how Bella could be viewed as a romantic sim, I do not see her as a serial romancer, but rather a soulmate romance sim, and Mortimer (I love his character), is her soulmate, as she is his. But that is just my take. I have been playing since Sims 1, owning complete sets of 1, 2 and three, many of the console spinoff versions too, but not so much of the Sims 4, because as much as I try, I just grow bored too quickly. To me, Bella is elegant, intelligent, kind and caring, and Mortimer perfectly complements her, as she does him.

I have another theory, Bella and the real Michael run away together (don't know for what reason). Michael made clones so nobody would find out. But maybe Mortimer did find out that it was not the real Bella and sent the other Bella away to strange town. And for the cloning part. Remember that in the sims 3 supernatural there is a cloning elixir and in the sims 2 supernaturals are mostly gone Maybe for this reason 🤔

Nina and Dina are available in the store world of Barnacle Bay. If you own the world, you can have them move into Sunset Valley. Free versions of them can also be downloaded from the exchange. My Sims 3 Bella and Mortimer fall in love fast when they become teens, and their relationship is truly solid. That is strange that your Bella kept being struck by a meteor, due to her having the Lucky trait.

So, I'm not exactly sure myself why when Bella died, that the icon switched to the other (Strangetown?) Bella's icon. However, my best guess is that because Pleasantview Bella was given a death token, and because of how funky those can be, she was considered by the game to be a nonentity or maybe only a partial sim entity, so the game was like "wait, that Sim doesn't exist. Let me search for the next closest match," and switched to the other Bella's mug?

I think Alexander is a clone baby. Always born a boy. I only say this because I think Bella was cloned long before her disappearance, and they wanted to use the abduction as a cover up. Plus cloning is now cannon in the Sims 4 Universe. I only have pieces of my theory rn but it’s coming together.

They always hinted enough that Brandi may have murdered Skip but most miss it. For example the fact she’s so friendly with Nina/Dina who want to politically manoeuvre into the Goth fortune (Bella disappearence linked to them) Also, they only get one memory of woohoo. My theory “Murder in Pleasantview” was about Skip Broke’s mysterious death. MORTIMER HAD SKIP KILLED BECAUSE OF THE AFFAIR WITH BELLA; and, honey, Alexander knew about it. Mortimer and Bella’s marriage went left after he found out about it, went into a jealous rage(even though he’s a lil playful, the grouchy came out). That is why Alexander had a hidden memory of gossiping about Bella to Cassandra. HE KNEW. Anyway, even though Mortimer and Bella were “separated”, they still wanted Pleasantview to believe they were a happy family. So they put on a show for everyone. Time went by, Mortimer met Dina, and they fell in love. I honestly believe Dina wasn’t totally a bad person. She is a femme fatale who happens to attracts men with the BAG lol. The relationship between him and Dina was getting serious, so he set Bella up to be abducted! It was truly planned by Mortimer I believe because he is already a Mad Scientist. He has connections with the aliens already lol. I want to say Dina maybe was involved still? She is part alien, so maybe her and Mortimer came up with a plan to get rid of her so they can be together????? Idk. I pray someone reads this.

Mortimer and Bella were close friends as children so maybe they were "forced" to get married. The Goth family is wealthy and the Bachelor's were struggling. Bella's family made her marry for money. Bella and Mortimer were not comfortable with this but tried to give it a go. Then the "when are we getting grandchildren?" Talk started. B&M swallow their pride and Woo-Hoo for the first and only time, they have Cassandra. Their parents are happy with this, time goes on and the question "wouldn't it be nice if Cassandra had a brother or sister to play with?" Bella can't do it. She wasn't comfortable the first time, Mortimer has an idea. Cloning. Either himself or Bella. No Woo-Hoo necessary. They have Alexander and no one knows he's a clone.

I don't think Alexander was Mortimer's. I think Bella was cloned two to three times (which is how she died in lunar lakes, yet showed up in Strangerville, and how her second child was a boy). Mortimer didn't like the new Bella, nor she him, which is why he didn't care when she disappeared. The aliens abducted her because she was a clone, but they crashed and new Bella "reset". Alex was a child when Bella is abducted. I think it's possible that Alexander created a new timeline in Sims 4, because Malcolm, Nina, Dina, Don, Dirk, Beau, Angela, Lilith, Vlad and Holly are all there (but that Malcolm and Holly are nearly the same age but reversed is weird and makes this kinda not work... although the Landgrabbs do own the lab...) Original Bella could've cloned her into the future self (by now cloning is perfected), and because she never divorced Mortimer, that's how baby #3 is "theirs". (In Sims 3, when you are married, your husband is listed as father regardless of affairs... at least in my game.)

I'm going to be honest, while I could summarize my thoughts on this more in-depth, for the time being I'm just gonna say I'm struggling to take Alex's thoughts seriously when they said the wiki was "lying" when it is not. No, Bella does not appear on the Curious siblings' family trees, and they don't appear on hers, and that's because that is NOT what the wiki claims! What the wiki claims is that Bella has the Curious siblings flagged as family and vice versa, which is 100% correct, you can check in SimPE. The reason they don't show up on the family tree isn't because "the wiki lied," it's because family ties and sims relationships are two separate things; Bella recognizes the Curiouses as family in her RELATIONSHIPS, not in her family ties. Actually, I lied, more in-depth thoughts incoming. While game mechanics and storytelling aren't going to always be 1:1, I think it's bad faith to completely disregard the former in favor of the latter. For one, Mortimer and Bella did not "only woohoo once," sims only get one memory for the first time they woohoo with another sim, they can only get repetitive memories of woohoo with the same sim under certain circumstances, such as the "first time" woohoo, public woohoo, and car woohoo memories. Two, the chemistry system. The reason Mortimer and Bella are always incompatible is because of their aspirations; romance sims have negative chemistry with knowledge sims, and vice versa. Chemistry is also affected by personality points, of which Bella lacks any, and by zodiac signs, of which two sims having the same zodiac sign does nothing to the chemistry score and is completely neutral. Sims with the same aspiration get a boost in chemistry, hence Bella consistently being attracted to fellow romance sim Don. The chemistry system is way more complex than just turn-ons and turn-offs, and also, it wasn't present until Nightlife, two EPs later. It didn't exist in basegame, so from a mechanical standpoint, Bella and Mortimer's lack of chemistry is coincidental. Anyway, I do think Mortimer receiving $10k immediately after Bella's abduction is a little suspicious, and I wish other simmers brought that up for their theories more, because I personally just thought of the real possibility Mortimer was blackmailed to keep quiet about his wife's abduction.

Chemistry in TS2 is calculated based on aspiration as well. Sims with a similar personality will also have higher chemistry. Bella and Don are attracted to each other because they're both romance sims, but she's not attracted to Mortimer because he's knowledge.
