Having done a thru NOBO hike... you nailed it! This was the hardest part of the "trail". Isn't it something to think that this should be open to the public? But it is. And I'm glad we've all... we've.... I've done this. It's a litttle crazy but if those that have'n't done it.... just do it!!! It's fun and there's plenty of people to help you out along the way. You've got his!

Folks have asked me many a time about the difficulty of Katahdin. I tell them it's 1000 feet lower than Mt. Washington but much tougher! I've climbed Katahdin 5 times, including this beast, the Hunt Trail. There is NO trail up Katahdin that is easy. Looking forward to climbing it again next week, this time via the Knife Edge. Great video that really showcases how rugged, steep and beautiful the Hunt Trail is. Good stuff and thanks for sharing it!!!
@WeRmudfun6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply and congrats on climbing it 5 times. The trail was tough, but it was really beautiful hiking up it. We need to get back up there and grab the other 2 peaks for the NE67.

WeRmudfun , Hamlin isn’t too bad, Knife Edge to Pamola, Chimney and South Peak still a mystery to me. Hit socked on conditions and 50+ MPH winds 0.7 mile from the summit of Pamola.

We were in line at 6:18 in the morning just to get into the park. We had gotten a pre-reserved parking pass too. :) We haven't been at a trailhead that early since doing Zealand and the Bonds. :)

+Jeffrey Lyons Thanks, Chuck & Cheryl for superb hiking videos, and thanks Jeff for superb beer reviews (and I did sub Natalie from your link). I'm feeling the New England love here. #lovefest. It's rather obvious that I gotta get my own "schtick". Lemme run through my talents and get back to you on that. Okay, I'm back. Nada.

Thanks for the video Chuck and Cheryl! My wife and I just bagged Hamlin for No. 67 via the Abol Trail...Woo Hoo! We love your videos but can't seem to find one for Hamlin. Does such a thing exist??? Thanks again.

You are welcome. We still have 12 mountains left and all of them are in Maine, Hamlin being one of them. Congrats on finishing the NE67. I'll be taking an early retirement next month, so we're trying to get everything in order around here, then it's back to hiking. :)

Congrats on your retirement! We live in Maine and hike the ones you need all the time. I wouldn't be surprised if we ran into you guys since my wife and I both have summers off and hike just about every day. Good luck and take care.

Heyall! I’m wondering how long the hike took you and what time you started! Any information would help!
@WeRmudfun5 жыл бұрын
You want to be sure you get to the park early, unless you are camping there. We arrived 20 minutes before the park opened and there was a line waiting to get in. We were able to reserve on online the day before. There are limits as to how many people can be on certain trails. As for how long it took. We can never answer that question, because we spend so much time videoing clips some time multiple times, that our time is a lot long than the hike should take. We planned all day for this hike, that is about the best we can tell you. It’s a get hike! Enjoy it.
@hiker01008 жыл бұрын
Yup, that's how I felt when I hiked Katahdin last year, via that same trail. Was still awesome seeing all those through-hikers finishing. Congrats on #55! What's the game plan for the Rangeley area 4Ks? Spent a few nights there and hike all of them? Or do what I did and do 1 or 2 at a time as daytrips?
@WeRmudfun8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it was a great hike, but exhausting. Not sure how we are handling the rest just yet. We spent the week in Millinocket and used it as a base camp for some other places we had on our bucket list. We have 3 more videos to still make, but Katahdin was the only NE67 that we did this time. We watched your video before we went. :)

Great video! Planning on hiking The Hunt Trail in a couple weeks just curious how long did it take you to summit and decend??
@WeRmudfun8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! We started at 7:30AM and we were down by 5PM. We stop a lot to take video and pictures though and spent a good amount of time on the summit too. It is 10.4 miles round trip. Except for mile 2.75 through about 4, it's not too bad. The ranger had told us to count on at least 10 hours, took us 9 1/2.

+WeRmudfun thank you for the info! I was planning on hiking on the 9th but unfortunately that won't happen now I suffered a back injury at work and won't be doing any hiking for a couple months it looks like :(. Well keep up the good work on your videos and keep on trekking!
