Nice video! Why is it that all Swiss/Austrian/Bavarian actors and directors ALWAYS dress up in jackets with green felt collars? Is the brand of "region of origin" more important for them to be recognized in Hollywood than for people of other origins, as if the predicate "Austrian"/"Swiss"/"Bavarian" implied a special character or quality for their work?

Do they? I never noticed that. But it would make sense. He's from Munich and Bavarians tend to be very localistic.

Haha, yeah, especially the Munichs. We think our city is the best in the world (which it obviously is, duh) :D Maybe I just always recognize these jackets whenever I see one... Christph Waltz likes to wear them, too.

That kind of jacket is called a Janker. It seems to be distinctive to the Bavarian culture. Bavarians and Austrians wear them. Never seen them much in Switzerland. The Bavarian language defines this cultural region (Kulturraum). In English, there seems to be no such linguistic distinction available, but in German there are two terms: "Bayerisch" refers to the dialect spoken in the German state of Bavaria, while "bairisch" (with 'i' instead of 'ye') refers a larger class of dialects spoken in Bavaria, Austria and South Tyrol, Italia. They are more closely related to each other than to the dialects around it (such as Schwyzerdütsch in Switzerland and Alemannisch in Southwest Germany), and so is their culture. Such as wearing the Janker jacket.
