it was an unreal experience having watched half a dozen of the practice runs, only for the proper run to go off the rails in a completely new set of ways. the improvisation during the elite 4 was incredible but nothing was saving the trainer tower run when quick claw procs, yanma/beedrill and sonicboom misses were on the table.

Spoiler warning, just in case. Disappointing way for it to go, but it's also a bit refreshing to have an example like this where the marathon run has to be put down, just to show that's how it goes sometimes and that it's not the end of the world. Thanks for the run.

"Well, that is not one I've had before": Running the numbers on that Beedrill "incident", to miss every one of the Sonicbooms you fired off in that fight comes out to a .059% chance, or just over 1 in 2000. That, together with the .49% double Thunder miss in Silph Co., could qualify this as one of the most cursed runs I've seen! Such a cool category though with a lot of high level decision making, just a shame the numbers aren't always on your side. :')

for anyone who cares, the transform thing werster mentions for gen 3. It also works for mew in gen 3 emerald. If you're shiny hunting and wanting it to be in a diveball. I recommend the same thing as he did. Get a easy catch rate pokemon out or even a shroomish and level it till it has spore. Just dont evolve it till it gets it.

The RNG manip for this game I believe is so precise that it needs an external tool to tell you when to click/move. Werster has said that he sees using external tool as a step too far and so refuses to do it.

@@jonathannickson7925 this makes some sense, thanks for the reply :) If I remember, FRLG manip involves checking trainer ID in the bedroom, having a program spit out potential squirtles based on the seed you hit, and then setting a flow timer to help hit the frame for the IVs/nature. I can see why this may be seen as too much.

I don't understand why he didn't shock wave the beedrill at the end instead of spam sonicbooms when the beedrill was just gonna spam double team to max anyway. I'm not the expert of course but seems like a much safer and not much slower option when that'd end the run if he died to the beedrill. Great video anyway, was funny.

The thing is, even at max evasion sonicboom still has a 30% chance to hit, so on average even against a beedrill after 6 double teams it would be more efficient to go for the guaranteed ohko from sonicboom than to go for the 3hko from shockwave. The odds of missing that many in a row, even with increasing double teams, were ridiculously low (less than 1%).

@@haroldhall1517 yes but the entire goal of this run is to use a level 3 mon for the trainer tower and spam sonicboom. Because on level 3 every mon (besides Vaporeon) will have less than 20 hp, Sonicboom is aguaranteed ohko on everything in the tower. Since Beedrill had its evasion maxed, the accuracy of all moves is reduced to a third, so Sonicboom becomes 30% accurate.

Obviously it's not 'necessary' for me - just the default that I see no reason to put effort into to turn off. If I get a prompt when signing up to something saying "Are you Male/Female/Would rather not say", I pick Male, and I think displaying the pronouns for that is just...fine? Like who cares, lol. In terms of the displaying pronouns being "supporting trans people", honestly I don't even see it that way. I've met way more people in my life I wasn't sure about that are cis, that I avoid using pronouns for until I hear or see from someone else. And constantly referring to someone as "Bigshark_Cumbuckets_42069" in conversation doesn't flow that well, so if anything it's helpful for me just so I know for sure when it comes to others.
