Hey, remember when Ben Jealous, former head of the NAACP, ran for governor .. and the entire Democratic Establishment betrayed him by openly supporting the Republican candidate ? I do. And, there are a lot of folks who learned a lot from that.

Ben Jealous was a terrible candidate. Rushern Baker and Krish Vignarajah were better 2018 primary candidates with clearer vision for the state. Then Jealous tried to pin Hogan as a Trump shill (after Hogan had famously snubbed Trump when asked to stump for him) instead of promoting his progressive health care plan. Just… not a good candidate.

He’s a Rhodes Scholar, veteran, and has an incredible life story. And when 62 governors who cam before you were all white men, being the first black man to hold the office is a big deal.
