Kaguya *isn't* a good person. She isn't necessarily a bad person either, granted. She has highs and lows and is deeply flawed. That's why she's such an exceptionally well-written character. But yes, she'd probably get up to some genuinely heinous shit if Chika were to date Miyuki - which is more of an indicator that she's really not a good person. I think the way she treats Ai alone precludes her from being considered a good person - especially at this point in the story. She's in the throes of experiencing major growth as a person, but she's still a huge mess of wrath and self-interest.

@@GreenHellTube Hayasaka isn't in love with president. She is just jealous of Kaguya's happy teen romance and frustrated with her because she doesn't appreciate Hayasaka's hard work enough. They literally started hating her character this season because of misunderstanding it. Maki is not a bad person. Her personality is a lot like Kaguya's, but they never scold Kaguya for behaving the same way. The only bad thing she did for three whole seasons was intentionally giving Tsubasa poor advise with the gift. And remember, Nagisa wasn't really into Tsubasa at first and started dating him on a whim, Maki was in love with him for a long time. If Kaguya was in her shoes, she would probably do something terrifying to her best friend, or at least stop communicating with her. Maki is trying really hard to be the best possible friend to both Nagisa and Tsubasa

But he thought it was her with the interest, and he asked her out using the president's advice, and it was good enough to get her to say yes. Then, when they almost broke up on more than one occasion, the council gave them the advice they needed to stay together, and the relationship ended up serious when it never would have lasted normally. All to poor Maki's detriment. 😅

The way you guys misinterpreted Hayasaka's arc honestly frustrated me. Running it down to a petty love triangle, missing the point of her rebellion, and wanting her to be the previous robotic girl who's only purpose is to get the two together and have none of her own fun is downplaying her development, her character.

4:26:38 Its been implied that Kaguya sama (and oshi no ko by extension since kaguya appears in the Oshi No Ko manga), takes place in an alternate history to ours. In this, im not sure if Japan won world war 2 or just had way more lenient terms, but either way its different. The easiest way to find out is by the mere existence of the Shinomiya family. These large economic family did exist in Japan pre ww2. They were known as Zaibatsus, and controlled major parts of the Japanese economy. Mitsubishi and Kawasaki are currently the most famous industries that were part of them. But after world war 2, as part of the peace treaty, these were broken up, and thats why Japan doesnt have single major families or clans that own a ton of stuff (unlike in Korea for example). The Shinomiya family meanwhile, is a zaibatsu clearly, which implies that the peace treaty was very different. Another thing to note are the various tunnels and secret rooms. They even found one in the Student Council room last season. Some of these, like the tower we see in this season, and the storage shed from last season, are remnants of the war. The tower likely was an air raid surveillance, while the shed was an ammunition or supply dump. But others, like the secret room in the student council room, were created during a large scale student protest, that changed the Japanese government (like the Korean student protests in the 80s). It doesn't really play any role in the story, and its just a full little easter egg for the ones who pay attention and/or like history.

@sneeki8082 Japan's Zaibatsus were instrumental to the Japanese war effort, and played a major role in the buildup and the duration of World War 2. To ensure that Japan wouldn't be able to develop a similar war industry ever again, the San Francisco Treaty broke up the Zaibatsus. It's the same reason why Germany also had its industries dismantled in World War 2. It's to ensure that another war doesn't erupt. Korea, which was an occupied state under the Imperial Japanese, had no such obligations. That's why when the Chaebols were being formed, there was no action against them. Another thing to note is that thr Zaibatsus did thrive pre war. The reason they were broken up is not because they failed, but because Japan lost the war. Had Japan won the war or never gone to war in the first place they won't have been dismantled

I mean I think it's more common in Asia than the Western Countries. Especially in poorer families, bathing or showering together isn't that weird especially if you're on the younger side of age. In Japan it's definitely more traditional to bathe together. The fact is that they were very naked in medieval times and in fact there are still hot spring today where both genders can enter. The Christian missionaries back in the day just told them they were depraved people and needed to put some clothes on, so they did.

I like how many references they put in the series which can be easily overlooked. Like orchestral music motif based on the "Godfather" theme, Ishigami's triumph scene straight from "The Shawshank Redemption" or Omega Moonwatch used in many space-related movies, like "Apollo 13" or Event Horizon"... There are tons of such references in musical themes or visuals, often recognized only by older audience knowing and remembering the originals.

Families bathing together, even with members of both sexes, is pretty normal as well - though nowadays usually (but not always) the kids stop bathing with their opposite-sex siblings/parents by the time they're teenagers. Hot spring culture is also pretty huge here, and those are all public baths where going in naked is the norm and you might even make people uncomfortable if you try to cover up!

Just to clarify, Hayasaka is NOT into Miyuki romantically, its just that he is the first real friend she has made besides Kaguya herself. And with that first friend, Kaguya, it isn't exactly a balanced, healthy friendship. Kaguya is her boss, even if she is still her friend. But for far too much of the time, she isn't treated as a friend, but as a servant to put into motion all of these crazy schemes that Kaguya uses instead of doing what she is too afraid to do: confess. Hayasaka has an insane amount of work, between her normal duties, all of the added bs Kaguya gives her, maintaining a "normal" school and workload, and maintaining all of these disguises and lies, usually not for her own benefit but Kaguya's. And almost all of it would be unnecessary if Kaguya would just do what Hayasaka has advised her on all of this time. No wonder she's frustrated. And no wonder that she's even more frustrated when Kaguya's paranoia (which isn't really unwarranted so I don't mean to sound like I blame Kaguya, she's actually my 2nd favorite character in the series. Just that she has her faults and I love her FOR them, but she has them all the same) makes Kaguya try to break apart their friendship, which I remind you is the first one Hayasaka has really had besides Kaguya. She just wants to feel like a normal teenager and have normal relationships with people for once.

Steph's anger towards Hayasaka becomes less and less justified as the episodes go on. First of all, imagine how one-note and carboard cutout Hayasaka would be if she had no plot involvement beyond pushing Kaguya and Shirogane together with the already small cast list. Next up, the whole purpose of this arc is to make Hayasaka be okay with expressing herself. She's seen her ice queen mistress melt during her high school years and it's obviously made her want to experience it for herself. It's a very complicated situation where she doesn't really hate her job and cares a lot for Kaguya, cheering her on, but also doesn't like suppressing the basic things teenagers want. Finally, Miyuki is the only one who knows of her secret. Ofc she'd be happy with someone she can just talk like friends with, as her relationship with Kaguya is more like a parent and child. And please, anybody who's seen the amount of persona she's had till now would realize that Hayasaka teasing Kaguya is just that, only teasing. Ultimately, this arc adds a lot of depth to her character.

To give context about why Shirogane needed to skip a grade, it's because the Japanese and American school years overlap a bit and just so he can be on time he needs to leave earlier than everyone else. Hence skipping a grade to prepare for college. It would be more difficult for him to take up half a school year and then jump straight to college so asking for papers for approval to skip his last year of high school is just more straight forward. He has the grades and achievements to be able to ask for an exception and all it really needs is approval from the school.
