The sequels to the main trilogy are literally just the main trilogy story, but done again and with worse writing and with a Mary Sue character that never really lives up to Luke or Anikan or the mandelorian or any of the clones wars protags or ... well you get the point. Ya I have to agree while the prequels were bad because boring the sequels were bad because they just made a worse version of the original Trilogy. The original trilogy is two great movies (one of which has begun to show it's age) and a decent movie that gets carried by the other two movies as a trilogy. The sequel trilogy is pretty much like you said. One movie is literally a copy of a previous original movie except worse, one had the balls to try something very different and had some good ideas except it was executed horribly, and the other was just a losing racer that said "fuck it" and regardless of everything was determined to at least finish.

Regarding the Potter/seed planting line, the plant Luke pulls out of the pot is called a Mandrake, which is a living plant in Harry Potter that shrieks when taken out of soil. Its shrieks are so loud and intense that they will cause most people to pass out within seconds and can even be fatal. Gotta disagree about the prequels being worse than the sequels. The prequels didn’t ruin every aspect of the franchise. Luke’s character was wrecked in the sequels. The sequels have ruined spacebattles with the Holdo Maneuver, there’s no reason to do anything else. The sequels have elevated the stakes to levels that are just ludicrous, 1000 Star Destroyers each with the ability to destroy a planet is just about as far as you can go. The writing in the prequels wasn’t exactly the best but it wasn’t as bad as “these highly advanced Star Destroyers don’t know how to go up” or “The Emperor survived the Death Star exploding because Dark Side”. Force Healing as it’s presented in the sequels breaks the story of other characters. I wonder who could have possibly wanted the ability to heal someone they cared about? The characters in the sequels are inconsistent and wasted. Finn has so much potential that went nowhere, Poe is just suddenly friends with Rey and co with no explanation, Rey is bland and overpowered to the extreme and Kylo/Ben flips and flops on what side he’s on and what he wants. The Force has gone from an interesting piece of the universe to a plot device. Palpatine is back because The Force, Palpatine can drain life force from someone he’s fighting because The Force, Palpatine can somehow become all of the Sith and Rey all of the Jedi because The Force and Kylo and Rey can teleport things and make video calls to each other because The Force. I’m sure that there are more examples that I haven’t written. Force Ghosts can now interact with the physical world and use The Force, why don’t they help out with anything? Anakin never brought balance to The Force because Palpatine survived. Anakin says to Rey in her final fight with Palpatine “bring balance to The Force as I did”. The people writing the movies don’t even understand them. Let’s not even delve into the stupidity of a chunk of the Death Star that large surviving the explosion and then reentry into water. The glass isn’t even broken. Rey, someone born and raised on a desert planet, manages to perfectly sail through waters that the more experienced characters said that they wouldn’t risk attempting to sail through on her first try and is perfectly safe. The writing in the sequels makes the prequels look like the most well written story in history. The prequels aren’t exactly the best but they’re vastly superior to the sequels.

I didn't know this many Zoomers watched my channel. But I hear that's a demographic you want. Welcome Zoomers! You're totally right, the prequels are excellent. True art is found in horrible CG, boring political narratives, acting on par with High School plays, and creating potholes instead of fixing them. Perfection. Thanks for helping me see the error of my ways! Subscribe for more prequel loving content!

This is a great review! I discovered your channel only a few hours ago, and it was a quick sub before I finished the first video (a few more and here I am!) I always appreciate a good reaction but I also appreciate breaking down the jokes/digs/lines and going into them and explaining them too. Many jokes I do get, others I do not (either I didn't know enough abiut them or it went over my head) but it is great to see what some really mean in detail! Keep up the great work with your videos! As for who won...well I am a Star Wars guy myself over Harry Potter (I enjoy both) but Harry took this!

Coming from someone who had never seen a single Star Wars movie in their entirety until 6 months ago at the age of 17: Revenge of The Sith and Empire Strikes Back are both tied for first place. Fight me (Rest of the prequels are god awful tho)
@BrokenBoxProduction4 жыл бұрын
The dialogue is awful in the prequels, almost especially ep3... but the story is soooo much better than the sequel movies and they're patchwork garbage. And if you watch through the clone wars series it actually fleshes out the prequels immensely. The final four episodes (have to watch the rest first) are up there with empire to me.

Revenge of the sith is the least bad of the prequels but the prequels are still just as bad as the sequels.
@MarceloZ24 жыл бұрын
@@neostrax3646 I think that the sequels are worse. Even though I like The Last Jedi quite a bit, Kathleen Kennedy didn't had a view of where she wanted the story to end (to make the trilogy a path to this ending), she just hired some good directors and said "meh, just do your thing, I don't give a shit, I just want the money". The prequels were poorly made, yes, but they had at least a soul, a clear intent of what they should represent and where the story should lead to. The sequels were just a bunch of random stories wrapped up with silver tape and sold to the public in the hopes that nobody would notice the silver tape barely holding them together. I mean, I don't even know what themes the sequels wanted to discuss, was it the struggle of Rey to find her identity? Was it the clash of generations and the different way to view the world? I don't fucking know! At least the prequels had this tiny bit of narrative coherence to the Star Wars universe that you could tell the major themes of each film and how they related to the original trilogy. Even though, yes, it was extremely poorly executed, it at least was there, unlike the sequels, that felt like a shameless cashgrab to milk a popular franchise on the expense of the fans of the originals.

well, lets compare good things in the prequels: Ewan McGregor as young obi wan, Ian MacDiarmid returning as Sheev Palpatine, the lightsaber fights (specifically the Dual of the Fates and Battle on Mustafar), a closer look at Order 66 good things in the sequels: bad things in the prequels: bad directing leading to occasionally stiff acting, jar jar, cringy romance, politics. bad things in the sequels: *Cracks Knuckles* retreading the original trilogy, just without the quality. killing off established character's willy nilly. a bland main character that shows up and is just better than everyone. Star Wars episode 8: The Last Jedi. the Emperor kills himself, all rey did was hold up some stick while the Emperor shocked himself to death. "Who are you?" "Rey" "Rey who?" "Rey Skywalker" I guess this goes to show that quality is subjective, because from my position, there's literally nothing good about the sequels

@booboothecool4 жыл бұрын
prequels are bad at smaller micro stuff like dialogue and character moments and way too much cgi, but the story the prequels tell is still great. the sequels have the exact opposite problem, individual scenes and character dialogue is great but when you zoom out a little bit and look at the big picture and the overall story they tell, the sequels are objectively way more of a mess. at least the prequels knew what they were going to do
