She's pure music! Marvellous. Wonderful both s a singer and pianist. You who start arguing and comparing know nothing about jazz. Or music in general for that matter. You cannot judge only by "technique" (even if she's got that too) - it is a matter of SWING - jazz musicians has got to have it. And she's got it in abundance.

This famous Gershwin sing has what are probably the most moving and poetic lyrics ever written, by his brother Ira Gershwin. If a famous poet had written them, they would be in all anthologies of famous poems.

This classic song was introduced by Fred Astaire singing to Ginger Rogers in the 1937 film Shall We Dance. George Gershwin only lived two months after the film was released when a brain tumor took his life.

Russell Malone Died this week He was sixty years old I believe you can tell In the notes he choose In this song I mean their placement Purposely uneasy drifting Evenly dissonant harm Harmonically headed To a narrow gate Like a north east violent Tornado of hornets spin flight ( Completely Calm )

not nearly comparable to Dave Brubeck but she all the technique in her hands - course, that powerful voice is also an asset :-)

Girl, I HAD to get outta my hot tub to come & delete this song from my playlist. What is so dang hard about just singin a classic jazz tune STRAIGHT? hmmm? whats up with all the vocal gymnastics? Leave that to the amateur.
@sallybowles27815 жыл бұрын
Anita O Day, Ella, Betty Carter, did vocal gymnastics, this is just bad rhythm and lack of feeling in the interpretation
@MMMarvelous12 жыл бұрын
She was incredible even at this point before most of the world knew who she was when she broke out this year (1996) with the Grammy Awards nom. I like the bassist, not incredible, but very talented & enjoyable; however, the guitarist is weak if you ask me, sorry - she could have done better.
@dlc11196 жыл бұрын
