This is Andover (1950s)
A shot of people holding a flag showing the ‘This is Andover’ logo is followed by scenes of the Coronation celebrations.
Next is the Mayor’s Sunday Divine Worship in 1954, when the mayor, accompanied by aldermen, process to church. They are also seen leaving with musicians and bands. Also going to the church are Brownies, Guides, Scouts and other groups.
Next are shots of people at a social event with the mayor.
This is followed by what appears to be a fete, with a woman being given flowers and footage of vintage vehicles, a fire fighting display and people enjoying the day. Next is footage of floats being built for a carnival. After footage of these floats processing, shots of steam engines at a fare are shown.
After views of Andover landmarks and Stonehenge, the films ends with footage of an archaeological dig and a military parade.
