This has brought back memories. My grandparents lived in West Bank and my father, and my uncle and aunt were all born there. My father was married in the Methodist Chapel. Their street was demolished in order to make way for the new bridge, but I remember my granddad pointing it out to me. I can't understand the comment at the bottom of this string about the voices being dubbed with Liverpool accents. When I was listening to it, one of the things that struck me is the extreme variation in English regional accents back then. Widnes is, what, twelve miles or so from Liverpool and there is not a single trace of a Liverpool accept. I live a long way away now, but I remember how British working class people used to be back in those days, - good, honest, decent people, with dignity and self respect, and a tremendous sense of community. By the way, if anybody reads this and remembers Alf and Nancy Snowball, they were my grandparents.

It was great to see this video as my dad was born in west bank an seeing this was great as I was born their but sadly moved to the old town I'm trying to get hold of Malcolm who's about 47 used to be a close friend all I know is he moved to Bolton forgot his last name dose anybody know him my names christine thanz

Never heard one Liverpudlian voice on there. They're Widnesian. Or maybe West Bank folk don't consider themselves Widnesian. I don't know.
