ive lived in the westbottoms for 7 years. thats 2,555 nights ive been out after dark and havent had 1 problem. I know 25 other business owners that live here also. they are all alive and have no no problems. its old industrial, full of white nerdy artists, wedding venues, and 15 antique shops. 10 years ago it did have problems, but the westbottoms district has fixed it long ago. theres hi res security cameras everywhere down here also. statistically its as safe as johnson county. look it up.

I lived in Kansas City for one year back in 2016 the West bottoms was the only place that I actually missed when I moved back to California

Fascinating. We're seeing less and less of these industrial districts in their original, gritty form, as developers (usually for good reason) eye them for redevelopment. From what I could see in this video, it already looks like that process may be starting to take shape (saw some buildings available for lease, along with a few newly renovated structures). Thanks for the tour.

The grittier sides of cities are very cool. Thanks for the tour of KC most never see.

Cool. I felt like I'm exploring the area myself. I won't mind watching it at normal speed. Gives me time to 'check out the buildings'.

Wow, never seen KC from that angle before! Great video!

I'm surprised you didn't hit the old stockyards since you were so close to it. Course now it's mostly where Kemper Arena is which is about to be torn down. The stockyards are what made KC the metro city it is. ;) Anyway great stuff you have. It's good to see my city getting some love.

I always liked the industrail district. It didn't matter what city it was in. It fascinates me. UB

I love The West Bottoms. I use to go to the Mills Street railyard with my dad when he worked there back in the 80s and 90s. I always thought it was a cool place.

love this vid... i'd like to see more urban driving vids from the us, freeways, interstates etc are great, but we need more city scapes too. also i love seeing gritty parts of cities... this was like a ghost town, only there were some cars now and then. cheers

this place has gotten worst there is now a bike gang near here with normally green bikes
@erka00113 жыл бұрын
@eluko79 I just mean normal street instead of interstates/freeways. I find less street driving videos from the US.

That area doesn't have crime, which I know that's what you're implying.
@TheGoodChap10 жыл бұрын
it looks cool as hell, but definitely no crime. I honestly wish they still built buildings like these today so I could work in a place that feels more human. West bottoms is directly under I-70 heading into KC. It always reminded me of St Jo. since KC got the government rail contract and St Jo didn't St Jo stopped developing as much but it's just about as well preserved

Ignorance is bliss. Statistically the Westbottoms is more safe than the rivermarket, power and light, crossroads district and the country club plaza. thats a statistical fact. And its public record. The Westbottoms businesses pay off duty cops to patrol in the westbottoms on top of regular police patrols. Theres 4 wedding venues, The hobbs wedding venues, The foundation wedding venue, The guest list wedding venue and 1 other. Its the #1 place for photographers in KC also.
