When you fight the fish on the accurate tern 2s is the limiter there drag or line capacity? I like smaller profile reels so was wondering if a tern2 500xn spooled with pe5 silk ocean braid that would get about 400 yards of 83 pound line would be capable of handling 80-150 grade foamers?are the drags on the turns truly as they say and do they hold up over many fish. I plan to put it to work and wonder if the drag would really start to slip after a few biggies? Although the reels would manly be up against normal grade 30-60bft/yft.

User Z, I have been fishing the the TXD-500X for the last three years and have caught several 100lb plus fish on surface iron and the drags put out maybe 26 to 28 lbs and it takes a few but ai have landed them. I have used a 824 Kaimana by Irod or a BV-80MH and the setup gave me castibility as well as power to lift the fish or rebound on the rail. They are probably going to work best on the 40 to 80lb stuff but the 100lbers are doable. Its the ability to cast to the foamers which is key.

Any rod recommend for a BV 300 single speed? Would you only fish it for 25 or can you do 30 for paddi hopping?

I might use a IROD 823 Kaimana which I have been using with a 400 Tern2 and the 300. Lots of fun with good action. Check out IRODs.com or hit up Hand M landing or performance tackle.

Can the Valiant 800N handle 100lb Braid and be set up for SPJ 100+ LB Bluefin for night bites?

Yes. It has handles fish up to 200 lbs. Normally I would suggest a ATD but it will handle the deal.
