Thanks for these details! Currently tearing down one of these to replace a flywheel side crank bearing, the bearing retainers came apart and was causing excessive drag/jamming.

Thank you for that video. I’m curious what size of bushing did you use. I picked up a old 272xp that needs a new oiler and seal
@TonaldDrump6865 жыл бұрын
It would be a good time to do both seals. Last failure I had was the flywheel side, saw had a crud trail right up to the leaky seal. It ruined a crank bearing, but I got to learn how to split cases...lol.

If you needed to adjust that oiler, which way would you turn that screw for more?

Hi Rich, hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I'd like pick up a 28" bar and chain for my old Husky 61 Rancher. There is large white pine near our family cabin that needs to come down next summer. I'm guessing as long as I find a bar that is made for Husqvarna and is 3/8" pitch 0.058 , that should work? I know the current bar & chain on the saw has those specs. Also, would you recommend a skip tooth chisel chain for a larger tree if running a 28" bar ?
@WestCoastMuscleSaws2 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, 28 skip chisel is a great combo for your saw. Take Care, WestCoastMuscleSaws TheChainSawGuy Rich kzbin.info

Nice detail to your video. Love my 61, but have a leaking (vented) fuel cap. Any idea where I might find a new one. Parts people have no idea what I'm talking about when ask. Thx

Hi Rich, I have this same exact saw. (61 rancher, but with white top). It has been in my family since the early 80's. It leaks bar oil and I took it apart like you did on this video. It seems to be leaking either out of that black rubber seal that sits on the crank case wall against the oil pump housing. I'd also like to change that crank seal while I have it apart. Can you help me find these parts? I'm looking around Amazon for these two parts but can't be sure what is compatible.. any help would be appreciated thanks!
@WestCoastMuscleSaws2 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt…. here are the parts you need… 501288501 X-Ring 503260204 Seal Ring 740422100 O-Ring Husqvarna has site for consumers to order OEM Husqvarna parts at Husqvarna USA site. I prefer OEM , but I’m sure there are aftermarket parts as well, WestCoastMuscleSaws TheChainSawGuy Rich kzbin.info

@@WestCoastMuscleSaws Rich, actually a couple more questions for you on this saw. Is that one screw on the oil pump housing to adjust the flow of how much bar oil is released? Do you know what it should be set on? Also, my bar oil cap is also leaking. Not sure if it's the cap itself or the rubber seal around it. Can a guy still get that replacement as well?
@WestCoastMuscleSaws2 жыл бұрын
Matt, there was a change on thread and size of oil reservoir caps . if seal doesn’t fix it, you’ll need to visit a parts stocking Husqvarna Dealer with your saw in hand to match a cap. Take Care, WestCoastMuscleSaws TheChainSawGuy Rich kzbin.info

I have a 61 she runs like new but omg. Ahe pulls over hard when cold. No carbon build up on piston or cly. Recoil is fine. After running pulls and starts. Just when cold. Like way to much compression. The saw. Cuts like hell lol. My ? Is why is that ??
@CowboyAxe4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like many I used, 61 is a fair bit of compression when cold, if any serious problem she would not start easy later or work well- I worry when mine gets easy to pull over cold Lol.
