ABOUT DEAR ENGLAND

Joseph Fiennes makes an anticipated return to the West End as England national team manager Gareth Southgate in Dear England by James Graham, directed by Rupert Goold with set design by Es Devlin.
Dear England follows the England men's football team under the management of Gareth Southgate and explores the team's journey through three significant tournaments: the unforeseen run at the semifinals at the 2018 World Cup in Russia; the disheartening defeat in the 2020 European Championship final at Wembley Stadium; and the quarterfinal departure from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Joining Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid's Tale, Hulu; The Mother, Netflix) as Gareth Southgate is Dervla Kirwan (Smother, Apple TV; Material Girl, BBC) as Pippa Grange, sports psychologist and Head of People and Team Development at The Football Association from 2017 until 2019.
The cast also includes Denzel Baidoo as Bukayo Saka, Josh Barrow as Jordan Pickford, Gunnar Cauthery as Gary Lineker, Will Close as Harry Kane, Crystal Condie as Alex Scott, Will Fletcher as Jordan Henderson, Darragh Hand as Marcus Rashford, John Hodgkinson as Greg Clarke, Lloyd Hutchinson as Sam Allardyce, Albert Magashi as Jadon Sancho, Kel Matsena as Raheem Sterling, Lewis Shepherd as Dele Alli, Griffin Stevens as Harry Maguire, Paul Thornley as Mike Webster, Tony Turner as Greg Dyke, Ryan Whittle as Eric Dier. Nick Barclay, Tashinga Bepete, Kate Kelly Flood, Will Harrison-Wallace, Miranda Heath, Tom Mahy and Tristan Waterson complete the company. The cast will also be playing additional roles as part of the ensemble.

I saw this the other week and absolutely loved it! Not a football fan at all but I was still so invested, it’s masterfully written to make you care about the characters. I would recommend to be careful booking the first few rows of the stalls, if you are on the shorter side it is a very high stage and it can be quite hard to see. I was front row, but I am fairly tall and a lot of the action was right at the front of the stage, so wasn’t too bad, but just something to be aware of! ⚽️

I'm not the biggest sports guy either but there really are some fantastic stories that come from the world of sports. I feel the right theater/timing it may have a decent little run on Broadway or at least a tour.

My good friends had Sweet Caroline as the first dance at their wedding! They're theatre people, not sports people, but it's just a great song!

There is nothing more off-putting than Sweet Caroline. Literally will never see this show based on it's apparent prominence, awful over-hyped song
