West is Best - Yaraka Part One

Join us for our very first VNTR Ops hunting, fishing and camping episode. A horrible weather forecast forced us to re-pack the boats and rods for quads and guns and head west to Central Queensland for an action packed week at an amazing cattle station. In this first part episode we head from the coast to the red dirt, set up some amazing camp sites, cover some serious km's looking for pigs and try our hand at catching some yabbies.

Guns pointed everywhere….. I responded to a property about an hour from where you were shooting. Guys all with rifles and poor safety habits. One got shot and lost 10 cm of his right femur. Lost approximately 3 litres of blood. Lucky to survive.

Colour of a yabby doesn’t have a lot to do with its sex but generally the black ones don’t taste as nice as clean ones. The sex of a yabby can be determined quite easily. The reproductive or genital papillae of the male crayfish are short projections on the bases of the last pair of walking legs; the female has oval openings on the bases of the third-last pair of legs.

@@VNTR_Ops i would highly recommend buying a thermal scope and night hunt up there. we were walking upto 90KG boars in pitch darkness and shooting them within 10 meters. a cheap 1x zoom thermal handheld is great for driving along in the buggie scouting for the pigs off the side of the tracks then get out and walk upto them hair raising but bloody fun. p.s that that repeater set up with the foregrip looks great !
