Hi there! West Kirby was where I was brought up and I used to sail on the Marine Lake and on the Dee estuary. In my later years it was always a pleasure for me and my family to walk along the prom and have a picnic in the Victorian shelters and watch the boats sailing. I've only ever recorded flooding of the promenade a few times in my life and I'm nearly 80 now. One of my even later pleasures was to be able to come down and park the car opposite the lake and watch the activity for an hour or two. Being disabled now I can't see gaining access to the prom will be easy if not impossible and frankly it now looks hardly car or pedestrian friendly either. It's no longer the West Kirby I knew and loved 💞 Sorry to say this🥲🥲

Nick, This has been a nightmare for my mum who lives on South Parade as there were no street lights for 6 months and having piling machines which shaked items in the house with the road continuously closed which meant you could not get the car out of the drive

Thanks Steve, sorry to hear that your mum has had to go through this for such an extended period. Do you know if your mum has spoken to neighbours/others on South Parade and what their thoughts were? Did they even want the wall and how do they feel now? Do they get regular updates?

What purpose does the wall serve ? Surely that won't keep water out ?

Hi Nick, has there been issues of flooding at West Kirby to warrant a new sea wall? I used to love a day out at West Kirby back in the 60's. Great video as always. I have never walked to Hibre Island. I was never that brave. Thank you. Spoolbox.

Do you think a no fly zone will be put in place for West Kirby when the Open Championship takes place in the summer, be nice to fly the drone over from a safe distance to see the golf course with the stands built
@misterdroneuk Жыл бұрын
Hi John, there will probably be a flight restricted zone put on over & around the golf course because they will have their own large drones flying to take shots. As it will be above a lot of people they will have to put a restriction on to let other drone operators know there is a scheduled flight operation taking place. This is for safety to minimise the chances of collisions & accidents. I will keep an eye on it though and will likely have a look at it beforehand 👍🏻
