West Lancashire Plain - Winter Drone Footage
Welcome back to the channel folks. In this short video, I am experimenting with some drone footage to music and I have added in some ambient sound effects to try and enhance the video.
The West Lancashire Coastal Plain is a large area in the south west of Lancashire, England.
The plain stretches from the Rimrose Valley in Seaforth, near Liverpool on the Mersey, to the south, to Preston on the Ribble, to the north. To the east, the plain is bounded by the foothills of the Pennines, while the western edge of the plain is separated from the sea by sand dunes. It is very flat, and much of it is only a few metres above sea level.
The terrain is mostly glacial in origin. The area has been inhabited since Neolithic times, though large areas would have been marshy and contained Martin Mere.
The WWT Martin Mere near the villages of Holmeswood and Tarlscough gives a glimpse of what this area was likely to reclamation. The mere as it was before drainage of the area was the second largest body of fresh water in England, behind Windermere. The rivers Mersey, Alt and Ribble feed into the plain and the flood plains add to the flatness.
Large areas have been reclaimed and have a distinctive pattern of rectangular fields of dark peaty soil with deep drainage ditches. It is common to find the suffix "Moss" in the names of local places. As is usual in these types of areas, the settlements tend to be on any available hill, many formed by sandstone outcrops. The land is fertile and agriculturally very productive. Vegetable crops include potatoes, carrots, cabbages, brussels sprouts and onions.
The main market town for this area was Ormskirk. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal crosses the plain and, in summer, is used for irrigation, bringing water from the Pennines.[citation needed] The Trans Pennine Trail starts in Southport and crosses the plain following the Southport & Cheshire Lines Extension Railway to Aintree, before continuing towards Manchester and Hull. The historic Lathom House was built upon the plain.
Please let me know what you think in the comments below. All relevant drone laws were followed and my drone is registered to me. This was filmed in 4K on the drone - which sits in C0 and I can fly in A1 class - some shots were cropped in - i.e. they appear closer than they were in reality - I won't be responding to any questions regarding the drone I use as there are a lot of people that don't like them.

Guess we better get used to what we are permitted. Beauty everywhere. Bit older than you. Used to camp with the Cubs at Tawd Vale, birdwatch at Martin Mere. Merciful relief from urban Liverpool. I live rurally now in Gloucestershire and count that blessing. Love your channel. YNWA. Peace.

Fantastic footage, with great camera / drone control. Inspires me to try harder, even though I only have a MM. And sadly yes, you are right, lots of people don't like them, hard to understand when such great scenes like these can be produced using them.

Thanks Ian, it's not worth going into spec and drone type as there are people who just try and cause issues. Other than complying with the law, there's nothing else to say other than enjoy the views 👍

@MCMOutdoors
@MCMOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
I think they were whoopers mate - the noise you can hear is a sound effect as the drone does not capture audio - I was just experimenting really with this one.

@@MCMOutdoors I’ve been watching a few (ok hundreds) of videos this last week or two and they seem to be decent bang for the buck and the most freedom, and you can take them away to most countries without being confiscated in the airports.. So if I can sell my Canon G7x mk2 I will be getting a drone in time for summer to add a new dimension to my videos

BREAKING STORY - HUGHES ACCRUES AERIAL VIEWS ! MrsTwiglet loves anything to do with wildlife,meteorology,geology and baking cakes so this charming video ticked lots of boxes for her.She said " Is'nt that Chris really clever to be able to fly the drone and play the guitar like that at the same time - but also to give a weather forecast as well when he said it's going terrain attests to his diverse range of skills ( she calls them Buffalo Bills ). When you're a wild camper you need to be able to read the signs in nature and interpret signals from the wildlife to predict the weather, especially if they hav'nt rolled out 5g network coverage in the location where you are.Apparently the local press have shown an interest in the video and it got a mention by Martin Mere in the Neolithic Times.Chris said it's nice to get out and dress up a bit so he hired a suit from Moss Bros cos that's what they wear when picking the potatoes and other vegetables that grow locally but to be honest i think it was a bit of a flight of fancy - i could'nt see any from the aerial footage.The tour De Lancashire had a poor turnout this year,i only counted 2 in the Peleton - unless they were the lead riders ? Mmmm - maybe they were cycling to the shops to get some more Glacial Cherries, which he said g are grown in the area for baking and the car going the opposite way had just bought some ? They're very fattening and it's possible that the people in the car had bought some and fed them to the big seagulls in the field on the way home ? Such a shame he won't answer questions about the drone but if people don't like people asking questions about drones then fair enough - they've enough to be getting on with what with being Trans Pennine and all that so let's leave well enough alone, at the end of the day, and rejoice in his merit as an outstanding Global Phenomena that manifests the salt and vinegar in the fish and chip shop of our lives.And pickled eggs.Yes his hairy,old footage is uplifting,shape shifting and makes my heart sing " Gargantuan Ging Gangs " . How about you ?

@@MCMOutdoors I absolutely mean no disrespect to you Brits, I absolutely want to visit the UK some day, but I'm sure you all would agree you have had enough rain. The actual drone footage was great, I don't have enough sense to fly one of those, and on that great job. I just can't get over how wet and muddy it is there. And what the heck are those birds meeting about? lol. Have a great day and pray for some sun!
