I wish that the Class 720s were just like the Class 730 with the gangway passageway. So that you can walk the entire 10-Car train. Mind you the Class 730 is very nice and Alstom should continue on manufacturing more of the Aventra trains.

Same seats as the 720's (of course) bloody rock solid, narrow and cramped. Have fun.

At least they are more spacious than the 350/2's and 323's The seats are fine for the Cross City Line but not sure about the Walsall - Wolverhampton route

Given that the Trent Valley & Liverpool trains are currently 8 car 350s, a 5 car replacement seems a downgrade in capacity. They look very comfortable and will be a significant upgrade for Cross City commuters when they start on that route.
@MercenaryPen Жыл бұрын
given that 8-car 350 services are made up of 2 4-car units coupled together, I see no reason why they wouldn't couple 2 5-car units together if the demand is there, there should be enough platform length along the WCML, at least at any station set up to handle either Pendolinos or 12-car services of other multiple units
@ajtrains Жыл бұрын
The trent valley services will be run with 10 car 730s, they're currently planning on introducing 12 car 350s as an interim, which are identical in length. It was mentioned in the railway gazette article that the service could go back to 2tph with 5 car 730s each time, as running pairs could be difficult due to this route having short platforms at many stations.

After that, the Class 730/0 with 3 cars should not be operating towards London Euston once they start to enter service with the Cross City Line
@jos4669 Жыл бұрын
the trent valley & liverpool services are 2 4-car units coupled together, so 730 services on this route will probably operate on 10-car formations. additionally, many of the 350s are staying with LNWR for the foreseeable future so capacity on those routes may not change.
@oforid2227 Жыл бұрын
these trains are longer in capacity so basically 5-10 car aventras = twice the capacity a 350 can carry currently

Been on these twice now as they are being used on the LNWR route. Wow these things are uncomfortable. It’s essentially a 3+2 level of comfort but in a 2+2 layout. For the window seat you have to sit with your feet offset due to the protruding bulkhead taking up half the space where your feet go. The aisle seats you have to hang your leg out in the isle as you can only get half a bum cheek on the seat due to the extremely narrow seats. The seats are rock solid and I’m in quite a bit of discomfort by the time i arrived in Euston. How is legal or acceptable in 2023. There needs to be some sort of campaign to get the interiors upgraded. Unless you are in a wheelchair they are just not fit for purpose.

My suggestion is that the Class 350/2s should go to ScotRail to replace the Class 318 and Class 320.

off lease, into storage. Porterbrook will be looking for another lease rather quickly. scrap is very unlikely

Porterbrook will convert the /2s to BEMUs which would be interesting although I prefer TMUs (electric diesel and battery)
@Anonymoususer_882317 күн бұрын
Or maybe ScotRail could inherit the Class 350/2 to replace the Class 318 and Class 320.

I honestly don’t understand why that the class 730s are replacing the class 350s which aren’t that old. Class 730s are very good 👍 high quality trains 🚊 because it’s warm inside the trains 🚆 that it has central heating and has bins 🗑️ 🗑️ on the class 730 trains 🚆. Class 350s are around perhaps 🤔 14 to 15 years old were made in 2008-2009. It’s called WMR - West Midlands Railway 🚃. 👍

It is and remains a mystery to me why, in 2023, trains can still be built and, above all, approved WITHOUT barrier-free, step-free access!?
