3rd - 6th May 2024 saw the West Somerset Railway host their annual Spring Steam Gala, featuring no less than eight locomotive in steam over the event. Stars of the show included Hunslet 0-6-0ST, No.1873 'Jessie' (Courtesy of Mike Pearce & the Blaenavon Heritage Railway), LNWR Webb 'Coal Tank' 0-6-2T, No. 1054 (Courtesy of the National Trust & Bahamas Locomotive Society) and Ex LNER B1 4-6-0, No.61306 'Mayflower' (Courtesy of Locomotive Service Limited). Also joining the line-up of guest locomotives were GWR 5600 0-6-2T, No.6695 (Courtesy of the 6695 Locomotive Ltd and Swindon & Cricklade Railway) and Ex GWR 4-6-0 ‘Modified Hall’ Class, No.6990 'Witherslack Hall' (Courtesy of the Great Central Railway), bolstering the West Somerset home fleet.
Filmed on a mild Saturday 4th May with outbreaks of spring sunshine, we see an intensive timetable of passenger, local, goods and non-stop services, between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead.
