My niece lives in Amarillo - she said yesterday that the total moisture since the beginning of December was only 0.1 inch. Ouch! I was in grade school there in the 50's when the last of the dust bowl storms were blowing through. People would say "Here comes Kansas." You have to love Texas humor. I think you would like the book "The Worst Hard Time" by Timothy Egan. Good luck and thanks for the videos.

Right you are. And the one thing that has kept the fires to a minimum thus far is the lack of heat. Once we start getting consistent highs in the mid-90s and above, this place will go up like a tinderbox unless we receive rain soon.

Again, this is a scene I’m all to familiar with in The Outback. We went ten months plus last year without a drop of rain. Everything was dry and one one occasion, a bushfire got to within 100feet of my house. That said, we’re expecting 4 inches of rain in 48 hours from tonight. It always ends sooner or later. Such is life in a desert.

Meanwhile here, we've had loads of rain in the past weeks (still raining now) and are primed for serious flooding once more if we get a cyclone. Australia as a whole has managed to get through the summer with no major fires really, which is rare. There are usually a few each year that threaten the larger cities, but this year I can only remember hearing of a few smaller rural ones. Although where I live is always green year round, you don't have to travel too far to see some real desolate parts of Australia that would compare to West Texas. Whenever I venture through those areas I wonder just how the people survive out there. It must be tough.
@TimKreitzAdventures6 жыл бұрын
I've had the exact same thoughts here. I just can't imagine how wagon trains and other weary travelers made it across this country in the 1800s without drying. Seems impossible! LOL. :-)

How long have you had that mini fairing on the Bonnie? Hadn't noticed it before. And what was that background tune in the desert shots? I don't think Rust Belt folks would have much of a clue about just how freaking hot and dry it can get out there, hope it doesn't get too hellish before you get some precip!
@TimKreitzAdventures6 жыл бұрын
I put that bikini faring on the bike in October, I believe it was. It really improved the look of the bike for sure. The tune during the desert montage is from the KZbin partner library. I'll have to look up the title and get back to you, but I thought it was well composed and performed.

Hello! Is not it raining in Texas? I went to dry and saw the video of the trace of the fire. Creatures are painful if it does not rain. Cacti is fine. :) I do not know the wide American climate well. Excuse me. Is there no winter in Texas? What was the bottle you bought in the store? The vast nature of Texas is very interesting. Thank you my friend (^ ^) /

The bottle is tea that I enjoy. I buy many bottles at once and put them in my backpack for later. The winter has been cold but very dry and we are in danger of fires.
