Yourself & Ferry Corsten were the daddies of remixes during this era of trance, this track is an all time favourite of mine and every trance-nut that I know, excellent work Matt! Not to mention Gamemaster, Liberation, Beautiful and more recently 'See The Sun', still killing it over a decade later Definitely a good shout for the trance GOAT

You have no idea Matt. Your music influenced a generation and solidified Trance at the epicentre of late 90’s/early 00’s. Will never get tired of listening to this era of music ❤

matt darey is amazing, that is the bottom line. all his older production/remix = second to none
@DJJonPattrsn224 жыл бұрын
I agree! When considering or comparing his remixes (and production in general) there is not really even a genuine contest as far as I'm concerned- his remix is virtually always SO much better than the rest! He really just gets all the elements & components "right". Starting from the structure/arrangement/flow and length of the tracks; which is probably the most important aspect of making a track that "mixes" well with others, or that's "DJ friendly". I also really appreciate how even during the majority of his breakdowns he had at least one layer that is maintaining the tempo and a certain amount of the energy, intensity or excitement- typically a snippet of a vocal that he has warped beyond obvious recognition and is using it as pay of the drum/percussion loop in the mid-high level. And he is really a master of using a broad array of effects processors in the most ideal way, and even taking them to new un-imagined realms. All of which gives his music its unique, full, warm and "room filling" sound that is kind of his signature sound. This is especially true with what he does to vocals. (His remix of "Not Over Yet" featuring Grace is an excellent example of everything I just described- it's featured on the 2nd disc of this set) Truly remarkable & impressive; and so powerfully emotive & touching/moving! Matt Darey is the King of Euphoric Trance.

@@scottkirkland6139 OK. Right...5k The naming & labeling of electronic music remixes and mashups in particular can become challenging for various reasons, and there is no decisively 'correct', proper or 'official' formula to follow. This one really is such an epic, uplifting & joyous track with a very catchy melody!

All the stuff on albums like this is timeless. I'm blown away this was from 1999, because I thought it was new in 2005, and it STILL fits in seamlessly in 2019. 20 freaking years into the future, and this still turns the crank 👌 Even though I live in a big city, the only reason I know about stuff like this is because a college station which doesn't do mainstream was playing this in the middle of the night. Bless them for the gateway they provided.

@Kevlar Canuck: Wow, that's an awesome story of how you are turned on to this! Where is this university, if you don't mind sharing... My exposure to this came through a used (and some new) music store in DC. I discovered Matt's very first mixed DJ album, called "Pure Euphoria" being offered for $4. The deciding factor for why I bought it was because it featured a remix of Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings", a piece which was studied & analyzed in one of my music theory courses. Basically I was interested in learning more about dance/club/rave music and understanding it in terms of my traditional training/studies. So, being familiar with the original work seemed like it would provide a great opportunity to get a grasp on what was going on & how this music was made... And it did! But it did SO much more than that! The 2nd disc of that set (which was released a few months before this one) is masterfully crafted with great musical sensibility. The mix flows much like a "symphony" from one melody to another quite seamlessly. It wasn't even mixed live, Matt put the tracks together & mixed them in the same software he was using for his production. And the product was something revolutionary & remarkable. I ended up collecting quite a number of the "Euphoria" series. And studying the track lists and album notes was the first level and my initiation into the world of dance music & DJs.

Ah, the fantastic melody from Sonic The Hedgehog 2 on Sega Genesis/Megadrive :) When you fight against the boss, Dr. Robotnik aka Eggman. It works so well here you won't even notice it's the theme song unless you really like the game's music like I did as a kid. "Whoa, someone else liked the Robotnik -theme so much that they made a commercial track about it?! Awesome, I'm not alone in this!".

I am lucky enough to have both 12" singles of this as it was released on 2 x 12" singles at the time consisting of six remixes in all. Even though the choon is 15 years old, (when I bought it in 1998) it proudly sits in my vast collection of cd and 12" dance singles from the decade of dance for which I have no plans to part with it.
