Great video Brent! Spokane is a nice area! I live south west about 150 miles in the desert. Sometimes it's nice to drive up and see some trees!

A new overpass above Interstate 90 is being built in Liberty Lake The entire section from Argonne Road to Trent/Hamilton has been turned into asphalt now. The ramp to Freya Street was removed and rebuilt farther back, which in why that section was under construction

Nice work with the video, I drove that both ways, it's a good ride for sure and Spokane looks like an interesting area. Definitely some mid 60's Caltrans influences in the older downtown section of the freeway.

Thanks man! Definitely some Caltrans influences (more like *a lot* of Caltrans influences). You were probably wondering why I didn't feature the most interesting parts of I-90...that's to be saved for another video. I have a quirky title for the video, too.

Great video as always, Brent! I'd love it if it'd gone on a few seconds longer so that we could all see the glorious bridge just west of the CBD, but whatever. At least I got to hear another good tune. :)

It's funny I was just on the 90 recently... strange to see you made a video of it, and for once in your videos I recognize the street names :)
@mahorosan14 жыл бұрын
Earlier you mentioned that Spokane consisted of 3 citites, but it's more than that, and Cour d'elene is more of a sister city than part of Spokane itself. That being said, the first part of your ride cuts trhough the Valley from Green Acres, and goes on till Cheney. I kinda wish that you'd include the rest of the ride through the city, cause you're just getting to the best part of it.
@FreewayBrent4 жыл бұрын
I actually do have all of the ride filmed past US 2 where it splits off into its own separate freeway, and a couple of miles beyond that interchange. Come to think of it, I'd like to re-edit this entire video from scratch and swap it out for a completely different song...I wasn't really big on it to begin with, but after sitting on the footage for a month without finding anything I liked, I more or less settled on this song, which still left out the rest of the ride out to US 2. That train overpass by US 195 is some really fascinating stuff, and that grade heading up the hill is a lot of fun.
@mahorosan14 жыл бұрын
@@FreewayBrent Ah, that's the Sunset Hills area, probably the nicest looking while going over the bridge. And that really steep grade is a car killer lmao. My folks used to live out that way but I always had a hard time visiting cause I could never get up that road.

ah! The town I live in! I have seen this stretch more times over the 20+ years than I could shake a stick at ! LOL By the way, you mentioned the hectic or whatever that it is. Well, it's gotten twice that bad if not more, since then. Often the traffic reminds me of the big city, or LA, or something. It's ridiculous. one small incident or thing causes HUGE backups. The drivers are crazy too! There's a lot of Angelenos that have been moving here for some years; that's probably why. LOL

I didn't know you were from there. In hindsight, I would have picked a completely different song for this...maybe I'll remix the video some day!

Awesome video! But why'd you end it in downtown? You end right at some of the best scenery - dropping down to Latah Creek (and the impressive BNSF viaduct just beside the freeway), the long uphill climb from US 195 up to US 2...and then you're in the vast openness of Eastern Washington. You should have kept going to SR 904 (Four Lakes/Cheney)!!!

Been through the area few times. It's funny how Spokane only has one major highway and a incomplete highway running north and south. Des Moines metro area in Iowa has more highways and has similar population.
@FreewayBrent8 жыл бұрын
Yes...it does seem a bit strange that WSDOT isn't actively planning for another east-to-west freeway in the region. I don't know if you've driven through there lately, but I was a bit shocked at just how severe peak rush hour delays are through Spokane (I'm talking about spending 30 minutes to drive about 5-6 miles), with stop-and-go to slow-and-go traffic conditions continuing out towards Liberty Lake. A far cry from when I last went through there in 1999. Granted, WSDOT has enough ROW along most of this corridor to expand it to 10 or even 12 lanes and eliminate the delays for the next decade, but it would seem short-sighted to not begin planning for another freeway corridor at this point to reduce the burden on I-90.
@schwenda37278 жыл бұрын
+FreewayBrent Speaking of the incomplete freeway, when's that U.S. 395/north-south freeway supposed to hook up with I-90? Was that little bit of construction just before Downtown part of that build?
@FreewayBrent8 жыл бұрын
Schwenda : Great news. It was just announced this month that the Washington state legislature just allocated the remaining $879 million needed to link the existing US 395 freeway to I-90. Construction will probably start in the coming months, and will include flyover ramps at I-90. We could see the new freeway extension opening up by the end of the decade.

@@FreewayBrent and you made this comment 4 years ago; traffic is MULTIPLE times worse now. people continue to move here, mostly from California, and it is driving house and rental prices sky-high. Well for spokane anyway.
