Visiting in the spring is breathtaking because all flowers are in full bloom. Another place which is amazing is Planting Fields Arboretum 🌺🌷🪷🌸🌼

@@ClearmorningDew Thanks for the tip on Planting Fields! Definitely checking it out next spring. Anything in Oyster Bay tends to be really nice. I actually worked an event at Charles Dolans estate there many years ago. Beautiful area.

In the early 50s and 60s my family would drive to the Westbury drive in. I always wondered what the Westbury Mansion and gardens looked like. As an landscape designer I say thanks to you Ive now seen them. Flowering urns white birch logs in the fireplaces, maybe a Steinway grand and a thatched cottage. What a thrill, great tour, plus all the info, Bravo 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Wow, I haven't been to a drive in since the 1980's. Used to love those. Glad you enjoyed this video tour. I had a great timing visiting Westbury Gardens. Looking forward to going again in the spring. Thanks for the feedback Barbara! Take care!

Just extremely awesome Paul. Can you even imagine living in this gorgeous home? The rose and lilac gardens would be to die for when in bloom. The huge trees are superb too. This indeed is a great tour, thank you for letting us see this.

Two things I remember from my childhood were going to Nunley's Amusement and Old Westbury farms and Gardens. So much history here. This mansion is so beautiful. Thank you for the tour and history in the description!

I used to go to Nunley's Amusement too. I used to love those boats that went around in a circle and the beautiful Carousel. And how you could, if your arm was long enough, grab one of those brass rings as you went around.

@@maryajaniak2896 My sister and I were just talking about trying to grab the brass rings 😂 And we luckily have home movies of the boats too. Wonderful and special times.

This mansion is so amazing! It’s like you’re in another world. The colorful walls, beautiful rugs and antique furniture is impressive. The gardens are never ending with spectacular flower gardens ponds & many paths to follow. Every turn is a new surprise. Love the thatched cottage too! So serene and calming. I felt like I was there. Thanks for the wonderful walk and information. You do a fantastic job.!!!

This home is so lovely. By the looks of the silver trophies in that one cabinet, I take that the owners were into Equestrian Sport of some kind. It is so wonderful that the previous owners of this mansion chose to give it to the State, County or whomever is keeping it up. So many mansions have been abandoned and left for decay so it is nice to see this one in all its glory. All the trappings are from an era long gone but so appreciative to see them even today. The ornate fireplaces are so beautiful and all the old paintings and glassware. Thank you for sharing. I used to live in Nassau County for ten years and then we moved to Suffolk County and now I have retired to Southeastern Massachusetts but I'm close to Long Island and that is great. Long Island has changed so much. The last time I went home was 9/15/2001 a few days after the Twin Towers destruction. I haven't been back since. The area where I grew up has changed a lot. I hardly recognized it. My homes that I lived in are still there. I will turn 78 on 9/15/2024 so that shows you how long it has been. At any rate, thank you again for sharing this wonderful home.

Very very beautiful scenery. I liked the trees and plants. I think it is a zamindar's palace but I don't know. It looks very nice. Are these gardens owned by any ancestor? I am watching from Bangladesh.

One more thing I forgot to mention: does anyone remember the famous Fried Chicken place Raynor's? My grandparents brought some of my friends for dinner there on my 16th birthday. The last time I had dinner there was with my childhood friend and her husband was on that 9/15/2001 trip. It tasted the same as it always had. Fried Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, cornbread and onion bread things. They are no longer there from what I had heard so I'm glad I took the opportunity to go when I had the chance.

Not exactly Gatsby style, but definitely a golden age mansion…..the grounds are a fairie tale, you could only dream of, what a place to grow up and the thatched cottage was so pretty from the outside, I wish we could have seen inside of it!
