The Westcott FJ400 is a powerful and easy to use strobe. It gave me accurate color, plenty of shots, tons of options in terms of light modifyers from both Westcott and other brands, the ability to use different camera systems with the FJ-X2M wireless trigger and the option of using existing third party strobes or speedlites with the FJ-XR.
All-in-all, for $569 the #westcott #fj400 represents a very good value in my book and I think if you’re getting into using a strobe this is definitely an option you should consider.

This is just a rebranded Jinbei strobe. Jennie has been around for along time. Adorama also rebranded this strobe as the Orlit. Jinbei are less expensive.

it's more of the HDPRO, but with slight tweaks. Same system, but a rebrand. I support it as they seem to have US exclusivity now. Nothing new from Orlit and Adorama sells Wescott... Jinbei has just about disappeared from Ebay now. Just speculations lol

Westcott & Adorama do not make these transmitter nor lights. ATG/Jinbei. You got better luck going ATG/Godox or ATG/Nissin. ATG is no longer with Jinbei. That caused the biggest downfall because Jinbei didn't want ATG services/supports in North and South Americas.

@@TechGearTalk I and my staff really hate all TTL/M monolights because they simply DO NOT display F-stop reading. Those darn number are useless to light meters & TTL/M speedlites. And without the TTL change/invert to Manual (TCM), then we can use any lights. You will notice when using TTL, the display will not tell you what F-Stop nor power after the shot.

If you want other strobe options look at the Jinbei and Orlit by Adorama since the FJ400 is a clone of the Jinbei lights they will work and are also cheaper

Might just be speculation, but I think Wescott has the exclusivity now for the licensing. I can't find Jinbei stock anywhere & Orlit RT's have been on backorder for months now. Just my thoughts, but probably the case.

Probably a bit late..... Yes...however you may not need the FJ-XR as depending on your Jinbei strobe the X2m will also work with the Jinbei. If the Jinbei is compatible for use with the Jinbei TR-Q7, it will work !

Hi Shane. It depends on your camera body and is listed on their website. For example, I could not get HSS to work with a canon SL2, but could do HSS with a godox trigger and light. Hope that helps.

For example I couldn’t use a Westcott FJ400 and Godox AD200 together with a Godox wireless trigger for HSS, or Westcott trigger. It would be great if wireless triggers communicated with multiple brand for HSS. I like Westcott but they have few options for strobes. I believe they are releasing new products soon.

@Pete Fox The LED light is useless for AF beyond 7 feet. You actually have this transmitter & it does do ATG TCM? Reason why I said that because ATG/Jinbei transmitters are non-TCM, & non-ATG AF assist beam. FYI: ATG/Godox enabled some transmitters with TCM on ATG, Bolt, Godox, Flashpoint & Neewer. Lucky my ATG Gold X2T has TCM & compatible with ATG/Canon/Bolt/Sony/Orlit/ Rollei/Nissin/Profoto/Westscott

Even the 500ws doesn't have the power. The reason they are pushing to 400ws was because ATG wants buyers to buy and selling it to photographers that want light & little power. Many times we used a TTL 1,000ws still doesn't have the power enough because going thru softbox Since we are talking & video on 400ws TTL monolight: 1. Do you know much lost light lost from 2 feet respect to 1 feet (if this a 100%)? 2. Do you know how much light is lost shooting with a softbox or reflective umbrella? I will give you a hint, you will loose 2 to 5 F-Stops using a softbox and diffusser. So 400ws, now become a weak candle light. If you think I am wrong, what is 1 stop less from 400? Something many companies & photographers refused /or failed to tell you.

Westscott like Rollie don't make this & as well as the transmitter. ATG makes them for anyone that buy in bulk volumes. The pros preferred the ATG due to RT for Canon, RT for Sony, RT for Nikon with ATG TCM also on Hasselblad/Fuji. 1. ATG 2. ATG/Jinbei 3. ATG/Orlit 4. ATG/Rollei 5. ATG/Westcott And you thought Rollei makes their own equipment. This is a well known Germany company. Even Profoto & Interfit don't make them, guess who makes for them? Hasselblad lenses are no longer German but ATG/Fuji.

@@TechGearTalk ATG will soon have 600ws pro model. ATG 2.4GHz TTL/M 1,000ws to 2,000ws are way to high for many photographer. Only the ATG Gold will be compatible with Hasselblad & Fuji aps medium mirrorless systems. But one transmitter is all you need to run all those lights. ATG's HD-2 is in the final tests & won't be available until 2022. ATG & staff are working for a stable block when using it on Sony. ATG Gold transmitters are user battery replaceable. This transmitter has drawbacks: A. ATG AF assist beam disabled B. ATG TCM is disabled C. Special battery required D. Block (HD-2 mounted) will break when mounted on Sony Again, Westcott & Rollei will not admit that this not new or do they make it but really an ATG which has been out over 2 years ago. Tech Gear Talk, five lights can use the same battery. Well done on this video.
