In this video, I get inside my Western Mountaineering Bristlecone and show the massive size of this winter bag. I then demonstrate how it stuffs down into its provided stuff sack. Thanks for watching! @mattsmountainmadness

@@mattsmountainmadnessMatt do you have any of WM’s quilts? Im starting to look at the AstraLite Top Quilt for summer/spring/fall camping because its so darn light and to pair it up with a lightweight sleepingmat.

@PrepperTankar I do not. I am hoping, with time, WM could send me one to review, as many viewers have asked about it. It would be awesome for use with your hoop bivy setup I would think.

@@mattsmountainmadness Yes thats what im thinking about too but im actually thinking about using that quilt with a Exped Ultra 5R mummy and a Borha Gear Ultralight Bivy for a Ultralight setup for 3 season use when i want to hike longer distances. I have a bad right knee so lighter gear is good if i need to hike for like 7-10 miles. I usally only hike 2-3 miles to my camping spots. Where i live we have a lot of wooden windbrakes with roofs that the county builds so that people can use them for free so i love to use them because then i dont need to bring a tent.

@PrepperTankar That sounds awesome! I really admire how your country, as well as other European and Icelandic countries, have windbreaks and cabins and other shelters available to hikers. Sadly, the US has very little of that available. Mostly because idiots will destroy them for no reason.

How much more warmth do you think the over fill provides?
@mattsmountainmadness11 күн бұрын
Western Mountaineering says 3 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit. I think that is pretty accurate. 1/2" increase in loft equals about 5 degrees colder bag rating. My Sequoia GWS was getting a little cool at -3, but after overfill I was warm at -5. I hope that helps.Thanks for watching!

As always met another great review, but this time you’re actually putting it to use inside of a building no less. I hope your fan was on high. That bag looked really roomy on you.
