This spring I bought the total relief cinch for my one of my arabs that is short backed, large barreled (or is it "well-sprung-ribs"), has a forward girth groove and galled so easily. No matter what saddle/cinch I had on her or what position they started in the cinch always ended up in her "armpit" and caused rubs. So far this cinch has been well worth the money! Game changer

Going through this right now with my AQHA mare. I bought a cutting saddle and it seems to fit her stocky build but the skirt (28 inch) goes too far back in my opinion. Thought about going with a barrel saddle as the skirts are shorter but not sure if it will serve my purpose. Thanks for the video.

I like barrel saddles for that reason too. Shorter and more rounded skirt and i also like the seat. They feel more secure to me

I got a circle Y little river trail short skirt saddle 16” FQHB saddle for my 15.2 mustang/QH who rides 17” wide English. The saddle seems to be good, but it does flap up in the back when she lunges… does that mean it’s too big? Should I just add a back strap to help with the flapping?

Thank you - this made more sense than most saddle fit videos. I have a Spanish type Mustang mare who is very short-backed, low withers, and round in the barrel. I had her in a Parelli saddle and it doesn't fit in the summer when she is on grass! Yikes! I have just gotten a Bob Marshall treeless endurance saddle but I have some concerns about stability... just training her now at 10 yo [wild until 9]. any tips on keeping the back of the saddle from slipping with a fat horse? I am working on getting her leaner, but after 9 years of living on cheat grass and air, she is a VERY easy keeper! thank you for your expertise!

Hi Cathi, I'm happy you found this video helpful. Have you ever tried using a back cinch on your mare to help with slipping? When using a back cinch I recommend making it snug (not tight)...there shouldn't be any space in between the cinch and the belly of the horse. Many people tend to keep their back cinches too loose which can result in the horse getting a foot stuck in it. My only other recommendations would be to make sure you are using the right pad for her and also to use a breast collar.

Im having a VERY hard time finding a saddle to fit my tennessee walker. She has minimal withers and the straightest flat back ive ever seen. Her spine is slightly prominant. Ive just about decided to sell all my saddles and try a treeless

The best thing to do would be to have a certified saddle fitter come out and help you figure out which size and type saddle and pad would work best for your horse. Good luck!

I would buy one of those cinches if they weren’t so ridiculously priced

Hi Savannah, you will be able to visualize and feel the scar tissue (the area will be raised up and firmer than the normal tissue).

Disappointed that you choose Togo with a flex tree saddle. Instead of a regular tree

What is the name of the Circle Y Saddle in this video and is it a wide flex tree?
@Dr.AngelB4 жыл бұрын
It is the Circle Y Kaminski KK Spark Barrel Saddle. Yes, it is the wide flex tree.

Very poor comparison, niether saddle is copatable with the other if the horse is a roping horse you need a roping saddle not a ,flffy toy saddle
@Dr.AngelB4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kenny, this wasn't a demonstration about roping saddles and this horse is not currently used for roping. It is just a general video to demonstrate how to tell if a western saddle fits the horse correctly. You are correct that neither of these saddles would be adequate to use for roping.
