How fast can the John Deere X738 Mow an Acre?

See my math above; ~ 23 minutes 35 seconds for a 72" deck.

Doing a little math: Okay, I counted the number of loops = 24: the width of the field = 24 x 60 = 1440" (that's approximate but since all the decks overlap the same all the times will be correct); 1440 / 54 = 26.67 loops for a 54 inch blade; ((24 / 26.67) = (28.30 / x)); x = (28.30 x 26.67) / 24 = 31.49 minutes. or: ~ 31 minutes 27 seconds form my 54HC deck on an x700 series. or: ~ 23 minutes 35 seconds for a 72" deck. For me personally the extra 3 minutes and 9 seconds is not worth the loss of maneuverability mowing an acre, in fact the time might even be less of a difference because of the added agility of the 54HC deck around obstacles. If I all I mowed were large fields like this I would probably go with the 72" deck. Personal choice, to each his own.

1 tip there, mow 2 passes inside, so you prevent throwing grass onto the road. it saves the road from damaging overtime

I got 2.5 but mow 1.5 and I love it. Get it done, get it done quick. Oh and put a snowblower on it and it makes snow cleanup fun

when you mow in circles mowing goes fast but the end result look like trash. Straight lines are better.
