My wife and I loved Star Trek The Experience. It was the main reason we visited Vegas the first time. Loved Quarks, and loved the rides. Some of the character actors from there still pop along to the Vegas Star Trek Convention in costume every year.

Wonderful tour. I’m such an Elvis fan, that I’ve stopped by a few times. The Elvis boulevard, is the best. I’ve taken several photos of the street sign. Your videos are soo informative and always professional. Keep up the awesome work. 😻🎉

I used to live in California. I would stay at the LV Hilton for practically free. They had spectacular deals in the 90s. My mom would fly in from the Midwest and meet me there. It holds a special place in my heart. That’s the most wholesome Vegas story you’ll ever hear.

Haha I have a similar story. My and my old college roommate always meet there. I live on California and drive out there, he drives down from Jackson Wyoming and we meet and stay at the Westgate. Great deals still now, and really nice property

Wow! This video really brought back memories for me! I remember staying at the hotel when it was The Hilton. I remember my Dad and I driving a new car from LA to our home in Denver and we stopped at the Hilton for brunch. During that time Elvis was memorialized by a statute of him dressed in his full performing clothes the including the Cape, out in the lobby as you entered the theater. I also remember staying there when my finance (now husband of 27 years), and I were treated to a room there by my Dad and we marveled over how the Star Trek experience was awesome! Had never seen anything like it. Thank you Paula and Dale; you two ROCK! CAB 😍

I remember staying at the Hilton as a kid with my parents. My Dad was a pretty big gambler back then and said there used to be a horse race track on that site before they built the International. My Mom and Grandma saw Elvis after it changed over to the Hilton. For some reason I also remember them seeing Tom Jones at some point too. I recall there was a fire in the hotel when I was about 15. Congrats on the new grandchild!

Loved it as the Hilton...then LVH. I used to stay there in the years they booked Johnny Mathis for shows when Barry Manilow was off. Many many times. First time was when I had stayed at a casino hotel in Indiana. Out of the blue they sent me an offer for rooms at the Hilton. Yes! I remember the night they built and opened what is Fortuna. Truly overnight. Huge pools. Nice spa. ....didn't visit in the International years, but recall watching the original Let's Make a Deal that filmed there. I thought it was the fanciest place ever! (Yes, I had the Star Trek experience, ate at Quarks and Benihana. Benihana was there on my first walk through in 1976 and seemed so exotic!)Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I had the privilege of visiting the Verona Suite on the top of the Westgate about 4 years ago. That was the Las Vegas home of Elvis back during his residency in the International Theater. That Suite was a memorable experience of marble, artwork, pool, bar, private elevator, etc. Jenn Kramer Magic is a fun show and Jenn is a wonderful young lady. She performed on Penn & Teller TV show a number of times as a guest.

Was there at the opening , just a kid, the pool above the casino was leaking so they closed it , big bummer for a kid, but remember buying fireworks and setting them off in the dirt lot next door and was there for Elvis opening dressed in leather pants and a flower shirt 😆 pretty amazing times , didn't even know it was a Westgate till I saw your post. Thanks for sharing this amazing memories ❤️

All right! This Vlog is right up my alley! This hotel was the International in the 70's. There are a couple of stories about Elvis performing there at the time but too long for this venue. However, I was there and in the swirls of my early 20's, just starting in shows, buying my first home, ect. The memories are vivid in seeing your Vlog today. In 1977 I had a brief romance with one of the musicians (second chair, trombone who sat next to his friend who toured with Elvis.) His stories were incredible about playing, Elvis. Funny, I can't remember so many things but Vegas is vivid. Your friendly showgirl.

Thanks for the video and the memories. My parents and I stayed there in 1980 and 1981 (I was 16 & 17 at the time). They had a "youth hotel" for kids. OMG - I was there for a few hours for most days. The "kids" were a lot younger than me and the staff was just a few years older than me. They at activities that were below my age. I NEVER told my parents (didn't want to hurt them) - but in 1981, I did not have to go - I did the pool, game room, etc on my own while they did their gambling - didn't care -had a blast. We saw John Davidson and Doug Henning both years. At that time - it was a dinner theater - so you ate before the show. Really cool. In 1982 (age 18), we stayed at The Dunes. Loved Las Vegas Hilton - and brings back memories. One even I remember - there was a slot machine right by the Coffee Shop and people were loading it with money. Told my mom when she came down (my dad was playing slots about 10 feet away) to play it - she put in like $6 and won $100 there. My dad won $500 playing a double slot (6 wheels). Same day. Cool stuff.

My grandson and I went to the Star Trek Experience at least quite a few times. He was around 6 when I started taking him & had to find fun things for us to do while Grandpa was gambling. It was a lot of fun. We also did the Race to Atlantis at Caesar’s. It was a motion ride to go with the animatronics. He’s 28 now, Grandpa passed last year but we still love Vegas.

My first trip to LV was for an ER convention @ the LVCC in early 1973, and we stayed at the Hilton. What an amazing place it was - and the first slot machine I put a quarter into spit 2 quarters back to me! I remember an encased outfit of Elvis's & thinking he was much smaller than I imagined. Liberace was headlining at the time, but with limited time available we opted to follow the ads " if you only see one show, make it the Lido". I've never been back as a hotel guest, but we did go back in the late 80's to check it out. One other memory of that Hilton visit - it was the only ( so far) time I paid for a hotel room! Glad you enjoyed your granddaughter & a tiny break in vlogging, but I'm glad you're back!

Great vlog! I worked at the Las Vegas Hilton in 1998 when Star Trek The Experience was just opened. It was awesome! Working in a casino gives you a much different perspective from an employee view versus the tourist view. Alot of moving parts behind the scenes. The property was known as a quiet place for celebs. They weren't typically bothered by locals or tourists. Fond memories and stories including when the pool leaked and it was 'raining' in the casino pit. Loved the gorgeous "Crystal Bar". Thanks for the memories!

I love westgate But I loved hilton too. ITs just a more relaxing resort its far enough from the strip but easy access. The area and grounds just feels like old school vegas and I love that. Back when hilton had it the casino was split into 3 themes. The classic, the modern, and the star trek theme which had the star trek experience. IT was so cool inside. The future outer space them bars casino cafes plus the attraction they had. They had the nightclub with theme nights. The Disco night was so much fun. Their buffet had such good brunch and their cafe had great deals. I'm so glad westgate saved this property and wasn't imploded like the stardust riviera frontier especially the stardust worst thing they ever did was close that amazing place. I love your channel and love when you guys add stories/memories to each property.

I have never stepped foot in Westgate so let's go! I miss Las Vegas really bad. I just love the history! I love Elvis, I will go visit just to see that statue. Wow...Barry has been there a long time. Huge Sports book for sure. Man O War was great, but I gotta say Secretariat was the best. I guess we will never know. Secretariat's best times were 2 seconds or more faster in all lengths vs. Man O War. 1 mile, 1 & 1/8, 1 & 1/4, and 1 & 1/2. Oh but I digress! Lots of great food choices. I would love to try Benihana sometime. I would have loved the Star Trek experiences. That would have been awesome. You guys are the Best!

Wow, great video. I used to stay there in the 90s when I was a Hilton employee and got the staff discount ( so hard to get the staff rate it was sometimes easier to book as a regular guest and it was only marginally more expensive) . The champagne breakfast buffet used to be cheap and plentiful back then, I can’t believe that Benihana is STILL there, I loved that place. I also LOVE that you both saw Liberace there!!! The hotel has been in old movies too like Diamonds are Forever.

Personally, I liked the original International Hotel/Hilton Hotel tower when it was just a simple 'Y' shape. Hilton later made a few additions to the tower which elongated a couple of the 'arms' and I feel that it spoiled the symmetrical shape. I remember going to the showroom in the Hilton in 1982 when visiting my parents in Mesa AZ, but I cannot remember who we saw! It certainly was an awesome place back then. Thanks for showing what has changed, and what has not. I'm looking forward to next week's video about your trip to see your new granddaughter 👶

My first time in Vegas was may 2001 and I Stayed at Circus Circus. It was WAY too hot to walk that far but I did see a lot of stuff on the strip that isn’t there any more. Wish I would have gone downtown or seen’ the Star Trek stuff, that would have been fun. I was too young to go when MGM was all themed for Wizard Of Oz too.

The futuristic theme in the Star Trek casino even extended into the bathrooms. Instead of manually flushing the toilets, you swiped your hand between sensors. You never touched anything. 😮

I saw Elvis Presley on August 24, 1974, the Dinner Show, it was so much more elegant back then with the red velvet booths, chandeliers artwork that donned the walls. I was 16 at the time.

Great video. Valuable history. Sadly, I never got to witness the Enterprise Experience. Sureoy it was dismantled, I could see a part of it at the MOPOP Museum in Seattle a couple of years ago. And it was truly remarkable.

I like this property it is well maintained and a decent value but they need a little more nightlife here if they want to attract more people willing to stay in an isolated area. It has in my opinion the best sports book in Vegas even better than Circa but they could use some more bars or a lounge or something in my opinion.

Hello, and thank you for watching! I agree, that sports book is superb, but I did notice that these days there isn't as much going on at night as there once was...that would force the guest to maybe go over to the Strip. Thoughtful comment, thanks! 😊

Saw Elvis at the International back in 1970. We had driven across country (3 girlfriends). I was the youngest at 18 and had no interest in Elvis at all, not to mention the ticket was a whopping $15.00. Yikes!!! Well, I was outvoted and we did go. Best 15 bucks I have ever spent!!! He was spectacular in the Infamous white suit. I still have the program. Ps. The ticket price also included two drinks. Of course, being underage, it was a couple cokes. Would do it all again in a heartbeat. A. Lizz

I just about lost it when you put up that picture of you guys inside the Hilton Showroom in 1982. I feel like I have seen Vegas change a lot in the past dozen years, but you guys have been in Vegas so much longer and have seen things that I really wish I had an opportunity to see with my own eyes and experience. I don't really go to Westgate very frequently, maybe once or twice a year. It feels like I am only ever at Westgate after dark because I can't recall ever seeing the entrance when it's sunny like the way it is in your video. I don't know if this is still the case or whether things have changed, but the Benihana at Westgate seems like it was less expensive than the Benihana on the Strip at Fashion Show Mall. The only problem with the Westgate Benihana is that their hours seemed to be limited compared to the Fashion Show Mall location.
