Great video. I purchased this generator a few months ago and only put 10 hours on it. Going on a 3 week trip next week with it.

i have heard so many negative comments about Westinghouse generators, and even worse comments about their customer support, guess you must have gotten a good one.

If it did break, you know it would be because you didnt change the oil after a few hours of operation for first oil change. Terrible idea...First oil change is the most important oil change, super important. Gets all the initial metal shavings from the factory process out.

I have had one since January and it has been nothing but problems. When its running, it runs like a champ! Powers the a/c and everything else we need it to. Getting it to start, that's a whole other thing. If its above 65 degrees, it will usually start after the 3rd or 4th time pushing the button. If its below 65 degrees, forget it. In cool or cold temps, I have to pull the screws on the side cover and manually hold the choke closed to get it to start. I sent a video of the auto choke operation to Westinghouse and they say its working as designed. Well.....if its working properly, why won't it start?? I bought the jet kit for the carb since we are at a higher altitude. It runs better now but still won't start on its own. Westinghouse has no answer and no solution. So now its a giant $1,000 paper weight that I can't use or even sell. I should have just sucked it up and bought the Yamaha to begin with. Now I'm out the price of the Yamaha, AND a Westinghouse that never starts.

Hey Andreen, what altitude are you at? When you say the choke is properly working you can see it engaging and disengaging?
@AndreenMotorsports5 жыл бұрын
@@generatorpower7744 anywhere from 3500ft-6000ft depending on where we are staying. When you initially hit the start button, the choke moves to full choke, HOWEVER, it only stays on full choke for about half a second and then opens. Ive tried to explain to them that it needs more time at full choke to start when its cold but they insist that its working "as designed". If I manually hold it on full choke, it usually starts after 2-3 times cranking over.

Hello, I have owned one for a little over a year now. About 450 hours. I have had no issues whatsoever until last trip the Electric remote start would not work. I charged the battery via the charging port and it started up again no problem. However the battery doesn’t seem to hold a charge. Because a couple days later and nada. Is this something you would do a video on troubleshooting? Changing the battery? I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before this will become regular service and maintenance. Thanks!
@generatorpower77445 жыл бұрын
Have you checked the battery in the remote? Ours died and we had to replace it, and you can also reprogram the remote. Have you tried either?

Generator Power hey so the Bluetooth works fine. It’s the electric push button on the gen that doesn’t work anymore. If I charge the battery it will start it up for a couple days but doesn’t hold a charge. Need to figure out what battery and where to get one to replace

I'm not sure of your location, but I believe I found a similar battery at Rural King. You might want to start there.

I always cover mine. You can use one of these, not fully extended, but just a few feet above the generator: amzn.to/35n8gQW

Thanks for your reviews. Just picked up the igen4500 at home depot for $776. I couldn't believe they dropped it that low. It must have been a mistake because it didnt last long at that price.

So roughly how many hours do you have on your 4500? Also, do you plan on switching to the 4500DF? Thanks!

Im ball-parking here but we used it quite a bit on our cross country trip. I would say 300+ hours. Of that, 60% of the time I would say we were operating at 20-30% output because AC was not necessary.

@@generatorpower7744 Thank you for the prompt reply. I've watched many of your other videos (you do a great job by the way), and unless I missed it somewhere, do you plan on switching to the duel fuel option?
@generatorpower77445 жыл бұрын
I will probably stick with the original 4500 as I have already scratched and banged it up from traveling across the US. It functions the same as the DF. I also want to see if the original WH encounters any problems.

I haven't noticed an issue. It's pretty common across all inverter generators to initially drop when a load is engaged.

Hey guys - having trouble finding a clear answer to something. Can you shut off the fuel on this one and let the carb run dry, or does moving the fuel knob to off immediately kill the engine?
@Motomadman434 жыл бұрын
Turn the fuel off and it will run until the fuel is too low in the carb to operate. Mine doesnt run more than a minute after shutting fuel off.

I have the igen4500df and have started it in 20 degree weather (Buffalo NY area) it takes between 4-6 starting attempts or 2-3 starter button presses. I did reach out to support and they are aware of it and say they are working on a fix

Sad thing is it doesn't hold enough gasoline to run an rv ac unit all night if it's hot out. You'd have to set up an extended run setup.

@@generatorpower7744 January of this year. I sent them a video of the choke operation and the said that its working as designed. SO...apparently...they designed it to not start in cool or cold weather. This thing has been jetted for altitude to try and help the issue. It has a slightly larger battery in it now to help it crank faster/longer. Westinghouse basically told me, too bad it is what it is and they have no answers or resolution to the problem. You couldn't give me another Westinghouse product.
