Dude I have my PB at this little pond I go to often and didn't even know they were that big in there. Got him on the catch co. baby bull shad and it came off right at the bank. How do you keep these things hooked on the contender/bull shad?

Those baits look good. I started getting into bigger swimbaits for striper fishing in California aqueduct and seems always get bite in first 1/4 of reeling after cast or last 1/4 in front of me. Been fishing the onimasu, arashi glide, s waver 168 it’s so much fun to get bite on big baits. Can’t wait to get a hold of some of those contenders.

Great video Westin! I don’t wanna come off as a know it all and sound like I’m telling you what to do. I’m only giving advice from someone who has learned this lesson the hard way. When you get bit on a big hard swimbait put the lumber to those fish. Hammer that hookset and I think you will do a better job keeping those fish on. Those baits are just notorious for getting thrown by bass. Hope this helps

A dobyn’s fury 795 with 20lb flouro is what you would ideally want for this bait. It will handle the weight fine and has a softer tip for those trebles. Hope that maybe helps someone looking to get in the game.

What a day! That's incredible production for the amount of time you were out on the water. Sick catches. I think the trebles may have come unpinned because of the rod taper you were utilizing. The extra fast tip is probably better for jig hook applications. Maybe try a moderate fast or parabolic taper that loads deeper into the blank? These tapers are incredible for treble hook applications and really keep em buttoned up. I have various Low Down Custom rods with both parabolic and moderate tapers that I utilize for different treble applications and they just flat out do work. My hookset is just a simple sweep and they are stuck. Of course, they could have just eaten it funny. That's swimbaiting for you! Great stuff as always.

Bluegill is tough to beat for clear water. Even though many of my friends love baby bass patterns I just haven’t thrown them enough to recommend. I like the bone for dirty water

If your fishing hard swimbaits with trebles go for a more moderate action rod. The muscle should work well for soft swimbaits though.
