Nice review and demo. We got varying sizes and use them on our kayak and canoe. They are newer than what you have, but look mostly the same. Generally speaking, they work very well on both fresh water and saltwater and we have never had a problem with rust. We have broken three in the past 2 years - one on a big Jack on Apalachicola Bay and the other two trying to clear snags. All happened when I high-sticked a bit (though not a lot) and we had heavy braid/leader as we go after toothy critters, so we basically abused the rods. I was a bit disappointed with its susceptibility to breaking on the high-sticking that the standard 2-piece could have handled, but was otherwise was quite happy with it.

Brother, what would you suggest as best beginner rod and reel? For beginner but also good for intermediate to advance. I mean the kind of rod you'd buy as beginner buy also something you won't replace immediately if you improved your skills. A good rod and reel for beginner that's also considered good rod by professionals if they ever use it? Thanks. It would also help if it's not ridiculously expensive.

Well to be fair, I got it sent for free. But! It’s still getting used on occasion. Has almost no sensitivity but it will work. We’ve used it in our California vids before but I have lately been traveling with 2 piece rods in a travel case

I just bought one and the rod looks slightly different. I can tell by the base or bottom that mine is different. I ordered 6.89 feet version
