I loved this video. I do not have enough life left to knit all your patterns but I love every single one. Even the ones you’re not sure of. I love the shawl that you haven’t finished. You are so talented and so inspiring. Been a fan for many years. Thank you for all your beautiful designs ideas yarns etc💙💙💙

Hi Stephen! Thank you so much for sharing your process with us! It’s awesome to see your sketches and your adventurous approach. Thanks, again, for the reminder of happy accidents. LOL. I love how you think about translating the motifs across design pieces and also how you keep in mind about featuring some yarns and not having them get lost in other colors or textures. Thanks, again, and have a great day! Inspired, Bethany

It's funny how for me, ripping things out is a confidence booster. I've just ripped out the colourwork yoke from a bottom-up sweater because one motif, that's different from all the others, just didn't want to stay smooth and even. I considered intarsia and embroidering the motif, but I knew that wasn't going to work either. Then I heard about ladderback jacquard and did a test swatch of the motif using that technique - it works and now I have a cute little pocket to graft on to my sweater when it's finished.

Change the colours and/or the thickness of the wool and the design changes completely. The shawl where you weren't feeling the colours with those stitches definitely has potential, though. I copied out a pattern by hand recently and realised that I really need to buy myself a set of coloured pencils.
