Hello! Thank you for investing in this new WA powder. I agree with your verdict. My two cents: Vitamin C degrades within seconds of exposure to UV so there is absolutely no benefit from this ingredient; probiotics also degrade very fast - the reason they are kept in the refrigerator - so again, no benefit. The powder does contain oils which help the powder adhere better to dry skin. IMO, this is basically a finely-milled talc-free moisturizing powder that is well suited for dry or dehydrated skin (e.g. skin that is peeling from the use of retinols or retinoids). Thanks again!

You are always so knowledgeable! And its true what you say about vitamine C. If I store my vit C incorrectly is goes yellow and I have to throw it. So it would be interesting to know how Vit C in powder would remain skincare active. When it comes to skincare benefits in makeup I know it will not replace my skincare. Period. It's a trend that I don't hate coz well... there could be worse trends in makeup but I don't pick my makeup following this trend either. What I find most important is how it wears and if it plays nice with my other makeup. Since the CT one is so well known and loved its a great way to measure the success. The extreme close up is also for people to see the performance and agree or disagree with me. I'm happy you like the video!❤

I agree that there are probably few actualized skincare benefits in this powder as the skincare ingredients are a bit lower on the ingredients list. Her site allows you to click on each ingredient to see it's purpose. But there are different forms of vitamin c used in topical applications. You both are describing L-ascorbic acid, which is the most unstable form . It's the form that turns brown/orange quickly when exposed to oxygen and UV. It's also the most likely to cause skin irritation but it's the most potent and readily absorbed. WA uses magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP) which is a stable, water-soluble form of vitamin C. Unlike L-ascorbic acid, it does not readily degrade in formulas containing water. It is also considered light-stable and oxygen-stable. It's lipophilic (is drawn to oil) and well suited to dry skin, it's also not as irritable to the skin. There are more details on the pros and cons of each form, there are a few, on dermatological and chemistry resources. I am by no means an expert in chemistry, but I do a lot of research for my 50 yr old skin and have a background in science, nursing and TCM.

I am not a skincare expert and don't buy my makeup with skincare benefits in mind, but I am interested to see where makeup and skincare hybrids go towards the future.

Great video! I think both powders looked great on you! From my side of the video though, the WA powder seemed to wear better. The WA side of your face looks exactly the same as when you applied the powder. 🤷🏻‍♀

Thats great to hear Susan! I do these close ups for the viewers. To see for yourself how they wore. Sometimes it's really obvious but this time I had a hard time picking a winner. I feel like the WA was more Brightening but the highlighter and bronzer faded more. The CT one is more smooth and kept the bronzer steady. But honestly both are amazing powders. I have had so many duds. Since WA is so expensive I am happy it isnt a dud.

Thats really great to hear! This video is supposed to be interactive in the sense I that I wanted the viewer to see the results themselves. I am so happy you have a found a clearly winner. I find it more brightenig as well! Sometimes these comparison are very obvious but sometimes it's really hard to see which did better. Both these powders are recommendable and when I do Close-ups like these I know it helps people decide for themselves how it wore. ❤❤❤❤ thanks for the comment

Thank you for the video! I have both powders and agree with your findings. I do prefer the WA since it feels more “done” by the end of the day and less sunk in/natural if that makes sense. They’re both really beautiful! We’ll see if I purchase a refill when the pan is over (that’s the true test)

thank you for the review (I am new here). I actually think just from the video, that after the 6hr wear the WA side looks way better. It looks naturally radiant and still blurred, while the CT side looks like worn-down makeup that needs to be blotted or powdered again to look good, with all the blurring gone and emphasised pores. So, it's interesting to hear that in real life it probably looks different than on the video (or I don't know what else is going on). just for info: I haven't tried either of the two powders yet. The WA intrigues me (that's how I landed up here), the CT not so much (I heard lots of good stuff and reviews about it, but somehow it just looks heavy to me; in this video too). I generally have a hard time finding a good powder for myself, I have rather dry skin that can get oily in some places, large pores that benefit from blurring and I don't like when powder looks like powder on the skin. So far, the best ones I tried were the Kosas one and the Glossier one, no powder from a luxury brand so far has done for me what these two do (I also quite liked the formula of the Channel Les Beiges powder before I discovered these two, but sadly, all the lighter shades have a terrible pinkish undertone and I have a warm undertone, so I was glad to replace it).

Hi Jarmille! Thank you so much for your detailed comment. I do these reviews in close up also coz I want people to see for themselves which one they prefer. It's definitely a review for my subscribers to make an informed decision since neither brand is cheap. Haha. Interestingly half of my comments agree with me and the other half likes WA more! You are not alone. I think the sucess also depending on which finish you like better. I felt there was a tad more texture on the WA side but more Brightening. On the WA side my bronzer and highlighter were near gone. The CT side is more shiny but it kept my bronzer going strong and is not brightening. I still really believe both powders are great! It was difficult deciding between two good powders. Sometimes it's pretty obvious which is the winner. I love WA and CT as brands. I decided to showcase a lot of WA products just coz I fell into the WA rabbit hole last year and I fell hardddd. I know some of my subbies like to fall with me haha. It's a pricey brand but there is something honest and well thought out about the brand. Charlotte gives me magic, glitz and glam but Gucci Westman gives me down to earth with a pop of color. ❤❤❤

Yes many like the WA better. You know it was like picking between 2 great products. But the reviews in the comment section is mixed. So I think it highly depends on preference. I am just happy people can really tell the difference between the powders. It's the most close up I could get.

I own both powders. The WA looks more blurring especially upon first application. I do find that within an hour or so it settles into texture. 😔 I have dry skin and yet my skin begins to look more oily and it also fades my baby cheeks blush! No matter how much I apply of the blush, it still fades. I am still trying different ways to use it and it does look amazing under the eyes.

I agree it looks amazing under eyes. But the reason I also think CT in my demo is the winner is coz my bronzer and highlighter are more in tact. I have combination to oily skin btw. I feel I was doing okay with texture. But I usually apply powder only on my oily areas. This video it was my entire face. How do you like the CT one?

This is the comparison I wanted to see! The CT powder is my most repurchased makeup item. Would I try the WA? Maybe. At the moment I have two of the CT powders (one backup always), so I'll see after I finish those. There is a price difference, so it depends...

Price difference is serious indeed! I wanna see how long the WA powder lasts before I hit pan. The WA beauty butter Bronzer is lasting me a long time (different formula but same price as the WA powder) so hopefully this is the case with the powder. Some like the WA results better and others the CT result. As boring as it sounds I truly believe you can't go wrong with either. Definitely use your CT ones and if you feel the itch still to buy the WA powder then you know to go for it haha. If there is no itch you Stick to CT ❤

Its a great compact. Do you have any of the other WA products? Its a different color but the same packaging as the Super Loaded Tinted highlighters and the bronzer. Only this is refillable. Very sturdy and very luxe.

Yes it is! It's not a holy grail status brush like the rare beauty foundation and concealer brush to me. It's sturdy. Dense enough to target certain areas but fans out. It's nice for the face but not nice for the undereye. It would have to be a little smaller for under eyes. For my face I could actually go a size larger or less bristles. Not the softest brush I own. It's nice if you have a softer hand in makeup but I am quite rough hahaa so I tend to like brushes similar in shape but smaller this way I have a little more control. 6.5/10. Does the job but a little meh.
