Many guys starting out buy expensive stock birds. I do think that is a good way of doing it however there are other ways. Remember the best stock will cost loads as they are proven breeders ... Who will sell their proven breeders ? My tip is ... Buy a round of youngsters from your top fanciers as they are normally cheaper. Way cheaper. Home them at your loft then race the to see if they are good. Approach 2 to 3 fanciers and buy 10 to 15 babies from the top 3 guys ... Race them hard and see what they really are and move those champions if they are proven to be class to stock. This is how all or many top belium and Holland and German fanciers do. Even the best fanciers in South Africa my country do it. It's never worth buying a loft of stock birds as you will never get the best stock birds from the fanciers ... Their babies they will sell however never will they sell you their pro en breeder unless they are packing up.
