Weston Mill History and Artifacts, Millstone River, New Jersey

As part of the project to remove the Weston Mill Dam and restore migratory fish passage on the Millstone River in central New Jersey, this video documents the fascinating history of Weston Mill (built in the mid-1740s), the efforts to preserve the surviving mill foundation walls, and an assessment of the discovered mill-related artifacts.

@@JohnWJengo No problem, the video was very well done. I've been watching a lot of videos of low head dams being removed and the question always is why was it there to begin with, need some context and why does it need to come out. But what surprises me the most is how many of these old dams there are on rivers/streams on the East Coast. It makes perfect sense though being water was used for powering mills or factories before the steam engine became common or electricity. The East is where the industrial revolution took off so it makes sense that 1000's of these dams were built, still there but now have no purpose. I have no problem with taking them out and restore river/stream/fishery back to how it was. Some of the enviro whackos on the West Coast, well, I have some problems with.

@@delcasaleexcavating9508 The Watershed Institute (formerly the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association) is keeping track on the progress of that potential removal while I focus all my energies and attention on assessing the feasibility for removing the Headgates Dam on the main stem of the Raritan River.
