From what I know, the parasites work as a hivemind. Whatever was going on with the shapeshifter, it was part of that hivemind, but also controlled it like a separate entity, as it is shown verbally giving the parasites orders AND subconsciously manipulating it. Here though, with the parasites controlling Red, I decided that its the hivemind speaking. The shapeshifter may have been the one making the offer, but it was still the collective parasite hivemind which did that. Still, the shapeshifter's way of speaking (being somewhat dramatic in its words) is used here.
