Thank you for the video and your appreciation of the X390. You have built a beautiful tribute to it. I have a 1986 Caspian Blue X390 that I bought used locally in 1993. At the time, I had no idea how rare they were (and how lucky I was to find one 25 miles from me in Pennsylvania, USA), I only remember seeing the ads for the X390 and X350ma in magazines. Mine has a Kahler, which I had a local luthier recess further into the body for ideal string break angle a few years ago. It was the second quality guitar I owned, after a Westone Corsair 1430BUP that had the same model Bendmaster your Pantera does, until I replaced that with a Kahler fixed bridge. I replaced the bridge pickup in the X390 with a Dimarzio Megadrive shortly after acquiring it, and recently replaced that with a Rio Grande Muy Grande. The original neck MMK75 pickup remains in it. I love the maple neck and body, the ebony, the Kahler (most of my guitars have one), the finish, the arched body, the rounded body edges, the headstock, and the smooth neck heel. Everything about it makes it one of, if no the, most attractive and comfortable guitars I own or have played. I also found a white Westone WER300 with a Kahler in 1998. It was basically the same guitar as the X390, but with angled stripe inlays. It was made by Fuji-Gen in the early 90s after Alvarez bought the Westone brand from SLM and Matsumoku stopped producing guitars, from what I've read. Unfortunately, the neck was broken off at the body in an accidental drop, and I sold it to a member of the Westone forums back in 2013. I haven't seen any update as to whether he repaired it or not. I often thought about taking my X390 to a luthier to explore the possibility of a clone. I may pursue that route in the future. I am still searching for a white X390 and an X350ma (the quilted maple translucent finish) with the fixed bridge. One with the Bendmaster popped up on Guitar Center a few years ago, but I am holding out for the fixed bridge. The only one I've seen in the last few years was in England, and I didn't want to deal with customs charges and limitations. Once again, thank you for the video, your appreciation of the "Trevor Rabin signature" Westone Pantera Deluxe X390 , and your skill and dedication in producing a tribute to such a severely under-recongnized, under-appreciated, and fantastic guitar.

Okay now I'm getting towards the end of the video and seeing this finish and seeing that grain omigosh the neck when you first started glossing over the neck; outstanding! Gorgeous axe!

Hey! I followed this build more closely than most and just wanted to say congratulations on getting to the finish line! Your issues while trying to get the thing painted really resonated with me, I've been having issues getting set up to spray in a new space, and I'm really glad you stuck with it. The final product looks like it could hang with any guitar at any price point. Fantastic work!

You have real skill at building guitars buddy, I find the level of craftmanship you put into each build inspiring. Ps not sure if you know but you can buy a replacement push fit arm for floyds now from floyd and it's not very expensive, feels a lot nicer than the screw in though. I'm not sure if schaller already uses a push fit so thought I'd mention it anyway. Cheers

thank you for this video. I'm looking for a set of pickups like the one the Pantera uses. I believe they are called OFC and they were handmade. Do you have any suggestions that something similar I could get in the market today??

Hey Daniel, is sanding the only way you make sure your neck template is totally straight? I've been having some issues with mine. Thanks!
@UnquendorGuitars Жыл бұрын
Hi Tristan 153, No it's not. You could also use a router (table) and a straight edge as guide for example.
