Westward actually sold the business to TSW early but they were required to continue using the Westward name and idents until the franchise period officially commenced on 1.1.82

Hoewel ik geen Brit ben, kan ik duidelijk horen dat veel mensen huilden toen Westward TV op oudejaarsavond 1981 stopte. De geremasterde audio zelf klinkt griezelig, het klinkt als een uitdrijving om middernacht en doet mijn hart sneller kloppen!!! Maar toch, de overgang van Westward TV naar TSW was een datum die de hele geschiedenis van ITV markeerde. Het was op dezelfde dag dat ATV in de Midlands werd vervangen door Central TV en toen Southern TV werd vervangen door TVS.

@andymerrett The circumstances were different. Southern were closing and a new TV company were taking over. In the South West between the new franchises being announced and TSW officially taking over a struggling Westward TV had been purchased by TSW and had thus been under TSW management for some while. By the time it came the change over was really only a relaunch and re-branding, same staff, same studios.

The Westward TV caravel logo disappears without a trace into the Bermuda Triangle, never to be found. But, in a parallel universe, the network lives on with a new 3-D caravel logo, a new name font, and a new Saturday morning action cartoon block called Westward Toonami as the network itself has its contract gets renewed over and over again.
