Great video Jessie! This moisture/ protein balance has been the toughest to figure out. Thanks for all of your tips!!

Hi Jessie sorry for the late post! May I just ask how often you personally do a moisture treatment and also a protein treatment in a month? 🌻🌹

I don't really have a set amount of times I do it, I just go off how my hair is feeling as it's gonna be different for everyone depending on their hair ☺

Have you clarified or deep conditioned lately? If you have then it could be you need protein, that'll help with the frizz 😘

So helpful! I always have wet frizz and I hate it! My question and biggest complaint though is why are my waves/curls stringy?!
@wavygirljessie3 жыл бұрын
Thank you ☺️ there could be a number of reasons for stringy clumps, mine sometimes go stringy after washday because they just naturally break up and want to be in smaller clumps 😅 sometimes by day 3 I just brush it all out because I can't stand when they look too stringy either haha 😂 but on washday the more I scrunch and move around the more they break up

coming back to this video to say thanks for talking abt this!!! i had never heard of this before but i Think my hair had too much protein/issues with hard water and i tried clarifying just now and im pretty sure there was an improvement (gotta wait until its dry to really see)! do u find that after the first time u clarify u need to do it again the next washday to just get rid of all of the like... lifetime of buildup or would u recommend waiting like several weeks??
@wavygirljessie3 жыл бұрын
You're so welcome! I'm glad it helped you ❤ Depending how dirty my hair is sometimes yes, I do prefer to shampoo twice on that very same wash...or if you feel it'll be too much my friend likes to use a clarifying shampoo and then shampoos again but with a more gentle one afterwards. I personally don't find clarifying dries out my hair much though so it depends on your hair 😊

Thank you so muchh! Do you know how much protein high porosity hair needs? I use a leave-in (protein shea moisture) curling cream (cantu) and gel (cantu). (Perhaps an oil in the future) but my main concern is which of these should contain protein.. I’m SOOOOOOO stuck omg :( I feel like I have a protein overload but I have no idea how to fix it! I also deep condition once a week with the shea moisture jamaican black oil + I’m going to clarify this sunday with a sulfate shampoo
@wavygirljessie4 жыл бұрын
You are welcome 😘 there's no set amount really, I go off how my hair feels 😩 when I had protein overload I clarified, deep conditioned (without protein) and used products that didn't contain protein for a couple washes. I'd say after that I could slowly start introducing protein again. Now I'll usually do one washday all protein, the following washday no protein, and the following a mix and so on. Hope that helps 🤞🏻

@@wavygirljessie Thank you so much for your answer! Do you prepoo use hair oils as well? If yes, how many times?
@wavygirljessie4 жыл бұрын
@@sgflower4233 I actually don't! Sometimes I'll massage my roots. I tried once over a year ago with coconut oil but I didn't get it to wash out properly and my hair was horrible 😂 I did a deep conditioner this week that reminded me of coconut oil as I think that was one of the main ingredients. I got pretty results but my hair was quite weighed down 😅 I'm sure other oils aren't as heavy as coconut though

Well shoot. I did a protein treatment like 5 washes ago & my hair turned into HAY! Found out later I have low porosity hair. Mine still looks a bit like yours in the photo. So I focused on moisture. Today I tried to use a hair gel that has protein way down on the list. My hair is still wet. But when I added the gel, my hair went from big fat juicy clumps- into stringy separated frizzy pieces. I added water. Added water. Added water. And nothing. So guess I need to return that gel back to the store ☹️
@wavygirljessie3 жыл бұрын
Oh no! 😩😩🥺 I was lucky my hair bounced back pretty quick, I'd stay clear of protein for a while even if it's low down. I also don't know if this is of any help but my hair was super sensitive to protein in the winter! It felt like it didn't want any 😅 now in summer it seems to love it again. Curlyatc on Instagram went through protein overload and is still struggling to recover her hair but is finally making progress, she's made some posts on it which I think would help you ❤️❤️

Did anything in this video help at all? 😣 I also have another video called 13 reasons why you're hair is frizzy, I may have touched on some more points in that one I think, it's not specifically about wet frizz though but some of the tips may help 🤞🏻

@@wavygirljessie I’m going to try and deep condition. My hair stylist said my hair isn’t hydrated enough if it gets stringy, but like it’s sopping wet. So hopefully deep conditioning will work.

@@wavygirljessie when I make my hair smooth in the shower, it then separates again and becomes wet frizz when I scrunch the product in. My hair stylist says it’s because my hair needs more water, but it’s sipping wet.

@@MunroMcLaren I have seen some people say that scrunching causes more frizz from them 🤔 are you scrunching in product when you're doing this step?
@MunroMcLaren2 жыл бұрын
@@wavygirljessie yes! I scrunch and it causes frizz. But when I put super cream in it doesn’t really cause frizz when I scrunch, but when I put gel in, it does. How should I scrunch?
