@@GrowinupinSincity81 it’s a crazy trip down memory lane, I remember being in the fifth grade, and jumping the gate on the Vegas blvd side by before the Bombay was there, I can’t believe it’s gone still, I also remember how hazardous the place was lol 😂 I hurt myself and drowned so many times there but that’s apart of growing up in Vegas lol, anyways thank you again you rock 💯

Went the 1st day they opened ! I was about 5/6 yrs old. Went many many times each year. Grew up going to this park. My kids were born in 01,03 and I was always bummed out that they never got to build memories of it like my friends and I did! Now with the new one about to open they get to enjoy a "wet n wild" too! I'm excited!

We used to have the same slides at Wet'n Wild Orlando with the exception of a few like Mach 5 and the Black Hole that we had in Orlando. Sadly Wet'n Wild Orlando, the grandfather of all modern water parks, will close at the end of this year.

This place was fun as hell! Up until 2002 I went there every time I went to Vegas. I could definitely see why they closed it down though. By the time 2002 came around the place was old and ran down, it just kind of sat, so the decision to close it was a good one.

I grew up in Vegas so ever since I was 5 y.o. I remember going since 1988 every summer till it closed. In the old flash flood, the center was the "hydromanic"? I heard two urban legends, one a girl loss her top on the ride, and two some knock there head on a turn almost drown? Anyone know why the center slide closed in the 1990s?
@GrowinupinSincity812 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment, and the memories Joseph. You are right in that the triple-slide, just next to "Der Stuuka," was, in fact, called the "Hydromaniac." There was a center slide that dropped straight down. Once the two outlying slides were converted into the "Royal Flush" editions with the funnel shaped end to each loop, I believe that is when the center slide was removed, on account of the required space needed for those two funnels. I will try to pinpoint an exact season for that alteration. I believe the "Royal Flush" was a Mid-90s addition. Thanks again for commenting. This is prob my favorite video I have shared on this channel. RIP to the Original, and Greatest, "Wet n' Wild."

sad tho, i passed by the original location around april of this year and it was sad seeing the area where the old wet n wild once was. i only heard it got closed but never saw the area where it used to be, since the parents weren't too huge about going to the strip. just for wet n wild only. now if only i could find footage of the scandia that used to be in vegas.

Why did they remove the bubble up, the rumor that I always heard as a kid was that some little kid got stuck under it and drowned.
@GrowinupinSincity8110 жыл бұрын
The only ride I had ever heard to be a danger was when the Blue Niagara first was in operation. Riders were perpetually hitting their heads along the winding tube structure. For awhile, I believe they would provide a helmet to riders. Wish I had some pictures of this. The "Bubble Up" claiming victims like some freakish Horror creature? Have not heard of this.

Virginia Gutierrez actually the Wet'n Wild chain did take off for a bit but then ran into money problems and were forced to sell them off. It all began with Wet'n Wild Orlando in 1977, then branched out to Texas, Vegas, and a few other sites. Unfortunately, Wet'n Wild Orlando, the grandfather of all modern water parks, will close at the end of this year.

No video of the Willy Willy? Didn't Banzai Banzai get destroyed when Speed at the Sahara was toppled over by high winds, then it was torn down and the new Dragon's Den was built? I have pictures somewhere of the banner at the Wave Pool, in 2004, the last weekend before it closed. Said see you in 2006...what a joke. And yeah, the new Wet N Wild wwwaaayyy out on Fort Apache, could they have built it farther away?
@GrowinupinSincity818 жыл бұрын
+Jim Mulholland Willy Willy opened in the Summer of '93. The first attraction following "The Black Hole" opening the Summer before that, in 1992. I agree with you, a water park, centrally located on the Las Vegas Strip, seems like a "no-brainer."

@TreeSlothSA It was waiting to be closed the day Bennet (The owner of the Sahara) died. The board members wanted to expand or sell the land. The land was rented to Wet and Wild by the owner of the Sahara. After he died I told my mom it will not stay open long. I think they lasted 1 more year. Sadly now that property is full of over priced Condos. This end of the strip is Ruined.
