So good bro. Few people grasp how tough it is to do a studio version of a studio version of a song, having never played with the original band. I am humbled

02:28 Chad plays this on the hi-hat mate! :) You drumming will flow better if you stick to the original drumming a little bit more even when implying your own style and fills. For example the ending at 04:54 where you don't take along the crash hits and 04:58 where you don't start the fill with the hi-hat and snare are missed opportunities to end the song strong in my opinion. Don't worry about your own style, the fills at 04:19 and 4:00 blend in nicely even though they are your own creative interpretation. You might want to be careful with hitting the crash so much and so early in the song as at 1:13, 1:18 and 1:24. Crashes are to spice things up or add accents, and so early in the song where not much drama or tension is happening they tend to sound overused quite quickly. I can tell you're better than average RHCP drummers so to some this might seem like nitpicking, you might appreciate the CC.

TheTwicey yo thanks for the tips dude. I totally get all that you're saying. I definitely didn't transcribe the whole album note for note and I know that it's not the exact thing that Chad played. Nonetheless, I tried to cover the full album in just two 6-hour sessions and that's not so easy, especially if you try to get it all note for note. I honestly never wrote any of their songs down on paper. This is all by memory and by heart. One or two takes at most. I then chose he best take in my opinion. If I had the time necessary to do it perfect I would have. Having the right people to do it with would be key too, cuz no one likes to volunteer for a filming session that goes on for hours on end ;P it's good to have friends that are willing to help you out, so you do the best you can with what you got, you know? ;)
@TJDrumsRHCP7 жыл бұрын
I definitely understand you're relying on your friends. You don't want to say 'one more' too many times huh :) Although I have seen the actual drum notation for some RHCP songs, most I just memorized by listening carefully, time after time after time. At home, in the car, in your phone, live shows, and time after time I notice more and more tiny little details that make Chads drumming so perfect as it is. I tend to aspire to record 'that perfect cover' but the more covers I make the more I realize it's impossible to do. Yet, when you try, you can get real close, and people start noticing :) Wish I had access to a studio too, you're a lucky dude man. Studios are so much fun.

This is really, really good replicative drumming dude. It doesn’t quite have Chad’s feel but, then, why should it. I would like to see you push yourself and do something that’s yours. Something you can own. Express yourself cos you can be an incredible drummer bro
