This test video is really good. We are the Taiwan agent of the Italian LUXUS PAINT brand. We are engaged in the painting industry in Taiwan. LUXUS PAINT's latex paint has completed EN13300 testing. We sent the latex paint to Taiwan's inspection unit CNS4940 scrub resistance test item (450 grams of pressure on the test body after 2000 times of brushing). The inspection unit did not provide a video for reference. Can it be shared publicly? best regards

Thank you for your comment. What do you mean exactly?

The specification did not mention 28 days If I mentioned any item mentioned

According to the EN 13300 classification, the coatings of latex paints are conditioned for 28 days and such a conditioning period is taken as the standard for testing in accordance with the ISO 11998 methodology. Of course, this time can be determined individually, as requested. It is not stated that the coating must achieve full strength after 28 days. For example, the scrub ASTM D2486, ASTM D4213 and others are done after 7 days. Scrubbing with ISO 11998 is good, however, it is good to condition 28 days due to the much thicker coating that is necessary to obtain than in the case of ASTM D2486

I have a question: The experiment in the video covers Section 9.1.2 of Standard 11998: 2006 The question here is is it sufficient or must Section 9.2 be done - and what is the extent of acceptance and rejection in the experiment

We always give a result according to ISO 11998, it comes down to determining the loss of mass per unit area (section 9.1.2) and the loss of coating thickness (9.2). In the video we show also the moment of determining the thickness of the coating, which is needed for the calculations in section 9.2. For example, the European CEN EN 13300 classification requires that the scrub resistance score be reported as the thickness loss after 40 or 200 scrubbing cycles. Read about the classification on our blog: paintlaboratory.wordpress.com/2020/08/09/european-standard-for-latex-paint-classification-en-13300/ and why ISO 11998 is insufficient for high-quality paints (premium paints) paintlaboratory.wordpress.com/2020/11/05/astm-d4213-when-the-1st-class-of-en-13300-is-not-enough-for-quality-of-latex-paint/

Question Based on any environmental conditions 28 days
@SpektrochemResearchLaboratory3 жыл бұрын
The conditioning standard is maintained and controlled 24 hours at a temperature of 23 °C ± 2 °C and a relative air humidity of 50 % ± 5 %. In our laboratory, this standard is valid both in the application, test and conditioning room, as well as in climatic chambers for conditioning, also controlled in US customary units (°F) according to ASTM standard for environment for coatings conditioning.
