I find myself revisiting the channel and website throughout the year. I am the son of a widowed mother and the transparency and education this channel brings has been an amazing resource. Thanks Matt and the entire Razor Emporium team!

Nice, very nice. Happy to see Matt moving on to a 2nd pass, because honestly it’s disappointing when he does just a single pass and then the video is over. So, this video was refreshing! Thanks Matt!

I love my Gillette Red Tip. I definitely have a coarse, dense beard, and the Red Tip just deletes hair for me if I have 2-3 days of it to mow down. Very smooth!

Thank you for posting this excellent video. It was fun seeing you do 2 passes, but I realize you are more comfortable with one pass shaves, and I can understand that. I think I do what you call 'blade buffing' without realizing it. I will have to look into getting some of the soaps and creams that you stock. I was definitely ready to buy Mitchell's Wool Fat soap after you demonstrated lathering with it in an earlier video. I checked your website to buy it and you were out of stock at that time -- the web page said there was nothing to display on the Mitchell's Wool Fat page. So I bought some elsewhere and just did my first shave with the product today. I will certainly buy other shaving soaps and creams from you.

Fun video as usual. Barrister and Mann has been on my radar for a long time, but for some reason, I still haven't pulled the trigger. Just from all of the praise in th comments, I think I will finally give them a try. Not sure if they have a Barbershop, but that is one of my favorite go-to scents. Most everyone has it, and it makes for a great comparrison between brands.

Gillette red tip is one of my favorite vintage razors. Once again, another great video, and that lather looked so good!

I only have five razors, but of those the Muhle R89 is the one I like best. If I’m trying different blades , I always try it in the R88 first.

Barrister & Mann is definitely a mainstay in my house. I'd have to say the Spice is my favorite. The original Old Spice type scent profile has always been my go to over the years. I've never used a red tip but I love the 40's era super speed that I got from you guys. Good job on the finish, you can't tell it's as old as it is.

This is one of my favorite scents. It’s based on Gillette’s “Wild Rain” from the 90’s. It came in shaving gel and aftershave gel. It was one of the first shaving products that I ever used back in my teenage years. Great memories. Cool wave is similar but this is definitely based on the wild rain scent.

I've been wet shaving for a long time and for me B&M is one of the foundational pillars of this hobby. My favorites are Seville, Cheshire and Reserve Fern.

B&M soaps are absolutely awesome. They always deliver a fantastic shave - super slick. Scent is an individual thing but I love the Fougere Classique.

Great shave! "Cheek Kisses For You" 😂😂 I just started using B&M a little over a month ago with The Full Measure of Man and I love it. Very tobacco, vanilla, woodsy scent. Great lather and leaves the skin nice and soft and slick. 👍

I love B&M and use Seville and Cologne Russe in my regular rotation.

It's inspired by Gillette Wild Rain from ca. 1993! Probably my favorite B&M scent, a sort of earthy aquatic fougere.

Hello Matt, I usually do not comment as there are so many comments that anything which I have to offer just probably gets lost. But I will add a comment on your video. When you first did your Barrister & Mann video last week or so I went and purchased the Bay Rum. You did not seem to have it on your website, so I purchased it from Barrister & Mann's website. They also sent a sample of the Lime lather which is also a great scent which I might purchase next. What a great company to interact with.... I am 75 years old with skin like tissue paper and whiskers like barbed wire. I have used some fairly high end shaving lathers and now mostly stick with TOBS. (and not to be rude, but shaving the mustache and chin area, I believe are the true test of a razor, blade, and a lather which is something I do...). I shave every morning for a BBS probably due to the military standards of long ago. If the rest of the Barrister & Mann lathers are as good as the Bay Rum, I will be hooked on Barrister & Mann. I still practice dentistry and both my wife and my staff feel that is the best scent which I have ever bought. (I shared the sent with them although they like TOBS Oud) So I think you very much for calling my attention to Barrister & Mann and the slickness of this lather truly stands out as one of the very best lathers. By the way I bowl lather because I can place my bowl on a Suxman coffee cup warmer such that I have warm lather. Yes, cold lather might be better, having stated that I served 4 years with the Marines as a Navy Corpsman during Vietnam and we were fortunate to shave in cold water with just a bar of soap for lather out in the field. As long as I live no matter how much of a better shave experience, I will never shave with cold water. Blessing to you and keep up the good you are doing for the shaving community.

B&M is great stuff but some of their scents are polarizing. My favorite is Lavender. I got a back up set since it’s discontinued.
@BulletsNBrass6 ай бұрын
I used the Lavanille splash this morning. The rest of my shave was much lower tier though. I am doing a little test by shaving with the Weishi TTO and some basic VDH blades, with Edge canned gel. It's not AS slick and comfy as my usual stuff, but it's still a big step up from the cartridges in every way. I'm betting you had to wash off most of that balm later though. I use less than ONE pump and it still tends to be a bit much, but less is hard to get just right and spread properly. I really like the Red Letter Day splash, but it's definitely a strong scent. The Lavanille gives me a less intense option that has some of the same notes I like. The matching soap sample is in my drawer waiting for this "safety razor startup" test to be done.
@rsolsjo6 ай бұрын
I became obsessed with B&M recently and I have collected almost all of their matching label soaps by now. Waves is one of the best, along with (in my opinion) Cologne Russe, Cool, Fougère Classique and The Full Measure of Man. There are others that are quite decent (like Spice and Seville), but those are the ones I think most people would enjoy. They also have way more "niche" scents like Lavanille, Muire Wood and Le Chypre but I'd opt to try samples of those before committing. Anyway, great high quality soaps, they lather like a dream right from the tub, great complex scents.
@MotoTavira6 ай бұрын
Fougere Classique is my all-time favorite soap - beautiful scent and super slick. I don't think Cool or Waves would be my thing but I'll order samples of cologne russe and full measure. I have Seville and Lavender and they are good but FC is my "go to".

I definitely need to learn patience when building a lather. I know most times, I get at it too quickly, and don't add enough water and it's a very thick lather, too thick really. I'm getting better though, using a lathering bowl to help me get the consistency I need.

Hello Matt. Question: you have mentioned that taking a blade out of the wrapper. How much will this dull the blade? Will this reduce the use significantly? Thanks Mike
@RazorEmporium6 ай бұрын
It's written on many of the blade packages - the edges are fine and if you aren't careful and rub the paper against the blade it can be dulled.

Good morning Matt. First i must say, yes I am a fan-boy of Razor Emporium. I too have a Gillette Red Tip that RE helped me repair sometime about a year ago. I was having a problem the TTO doors closing evenly so I decided to disassemble the razor. After fixing the door problem and reassembly I dropped the locking clip used inside the handle to secure everything. After much searching the floor I couldn't find the piece. I drove to RE, fortunately I live in the PHX area to give it to them for the repair. Apon arriving and explaining my dilemma, DJ said that she could easily fix it quickly and didn't have to leave my razor. She return with my Red Tip in perfect condition. I then asked how much I owed for the repair and was told, I owed nothing and thanks for being a customer. What a super business you have, Matt. The team that you have assembled is incomparable. Thank you.
