Remember episode 3???? They explained that his demon blood would model his appearance mannerisms behavior and other aspects from the parent he is closest to during his growth as a child so his constant interaction with the only parental figure he has would model him into a near perfect copy with a few deferences since kyuubi raised him and he had no male figures the help in his growth his demon blood had no male characteristics to work with in short no father figure no male attributes the only reason he's still considered a male is due to him still possessing a penis though I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly woke up without it in a future episode

The reason for submission is probably due to his earlier memories during his childhood during that time before he met his mother he knew whenever someone showed aggression the easiest way to get rid of the pain was to submit and let them do as they wished I believe that instinct from his childhood carried over to his love life his mother teaching him to be gentler probably didn't help him in learning to resist his urges to be submissive
