I was a volunteer here on the restoration in the early 1980’s. The BBC used the fort as a location for the Beau Geste mini series with music composed by Stephen Deutsch who was a lecturer at the Dorset Institute of Higher Education (later Bournemouth University) at the Weymouth campus.

There in March 1978... stayed for 2 nights in one of the bays looking out towards the sea, pretty cool.

Very interesting! I used to holiday in Weymouth in the late 1950's with my parents and sister- The Nothe by then was empty and the vandals hadn't got access. Yes it was a spooky place to a 6 year old!. I say it was empty, but there was always a light on somewhere on the Portland side- never ever found out why.

Stuart Morris I remember that the local tv channel made a film about what was happening at the time. They had a camera above the entry and wanted someone to walk across beneath. I would love to find that film... they chose me...

@@zzippster If you remember the year and the TV channel, it may be in an archive somewhere. Try contacting anyone else who was there at the time.
