If I were from Mineral Wells I would surely take umbrage with your remark , however my hometown is the beautiful town of Weatherford about 18 miles East and not the town that you slandered.

I'm so excited about the hotel being brought back to life! I had forgotten about it until I came through there a couple of years ago. My mother had told me about going there with her dad when she was a child - probably around 1935. She's 90 now. I will be following the restoration.

Yes they are working on the Baker Hotel. They are almost finished replacing all of the upper story windows and yes we have plenty of other hotels/motels here in Mineral Wells.

It was beautiful in its day. It can't hurt.

Hope this all goes thru. They will have to make most of the rooms as rentals to even make it worth reopening.

That report from January 14th?!? Currently, I don’t see any construction dumpsters around. Working on roofs and more. Would Baker opens in 2022?.... I doubt that! Since, it will become a major complications.

Yeah, the guy who bought it has been BSing for 2 years about how construction was going to take place immediately (back in 2018). That hotel would have to be stripped down to the steel girders to get rid of the asbestos in it; doing so would devoid the structure of its architectural individuality. Only way to begin work would be to underwrite a massive insurance policy to indemnify the owners from the working crews eventually filing suit for hazardous conditions.

@@TheNathanScot I agree with you! Two years? No way! Impossible! But remember that Hotel Settles in Big Springs? It took 4.5 years. Very complicated and overrun costs too. But beautiful. About couple of weeks ago, I noticed another video now there are some construction dumpsters around but, I don’t see roofers are working on it. If they do renovations which won’t be easy and later they will be asking more funds. Let’s hope.

@@rbsmith3365 Any updates to the update? I will be surprised if they pull this off, to be honest that new owner doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

@@hoggravyandchitlins But remember that Hotel Settles in Big Springs took little over 4 years. ( opened end of 2012 pool and more hasn’t completed) I know not that easy and it won’t completed by 2022. They would fall behind due to Coronavirus. So, I hope that renovations are in progress.
