Actually with plowing season coming soon, it’s good for them. It makes the fields easier to plow and plus for some reason the char contributes minerals into the soil so, except for the danger of the fire to the people and animals, basically it will be good for crops.

This is some seriously horrible stuff. I'm a volunteer firefighter in northcentral Washington. We are the initial response department for wildfires in our district. There are only so many firefighters available and if they get worn out fighting fires this early in the spring they're going to be totally toasted by the time fire season starts further north. If you live in an are subject to wildland wildfires find out what you can do to protect your home from becoming a fire casualty. The process is called wildfire mitigation and a call to your fire department, your county conservation district, or your state's agency that deals with natural resources will get you information and assistance. Obviously the time to do this would be now, looks like we may not be getting a break this year.

@@Arisaem I worked with a couple of atmospheric scientists at the UW back in the late 80s. They saw the writing on the wall and we talked about the reality of the situation over many lunches. I asked them why their colleagues were publishing the most conservative results from their models. I was told everyone in the field knew that publishing what they actually saw coming would cut them off from grants and open them up to ridicule. Human beings aren't wired to deal with this sort of threat. We'll see how we deal with this sort of reality and yes it's going to get worse and it's going to do it very quickly.

Wildfires can change directions quickly, and they were experiencing winds up to 60mph with the recent temperature drop. This is why you also see people evacuating their homes in CA at the last minute. Driving through fire and smoke. The winds will pick up and change the direction of the burn.
