I was fortunate enough to sit in section 178, row C, seats 1& 2 for Beltrans entire career as a Met. What you didn't see on camera was him being the captain of that outfield. From positioning players, to the effortless way he made the insanely difficult look routine, simply put, one of the greatest outfielders I've ever seen.

Mattingly and Wright should both be in the HOF. Wright had about 8-9 Hall of Fame quality years. Same with Don Mattingly. The only thing they didn’t do is keep playing for 10 more years when they were in decline like Rolen and many others. Not one of Pujols’ last 10 years was a hall of fame year, but he got in solely for what he did the first 10 years. Rolen didn’t have as many great years as Wright. In fact, it looks like Rolen only had maybe 2-3 years that were as good or better than any David Wright prime years. If you only count 130+ games as a full season, Scott Rolen only had 8 full seasons. 4 of his 17 seasons were less than 100 games and 9 were less than 130. It’s BS that he’s in and Wright isn’t.
