A word to my ladies, if you are being harmed -physically and mentally- you cannot change him! You will not change him. He will not change while you are with him. You cannot make him go to therapy. You need to get out and if he wants to change, he will but he will not while you stay with him. Get up and go asap. I’ve been in that situation twice. Attention everyone: there are a few commentators here who are openly and repeatedly trying to gaslight everyone, to minimize the abu$€ and even to equate Gabby Petito's murder with some imaginary injustice she inflicted upon her abu$€r and killer. As a mental health professional, I advise everyone not to engage with these people, since they show pathological hatred toward the victim, complete disregard for her suffering and that of her family and a compulsive need to lie and insult them, while simultaneously openly justifying Petito's abu$€ and murder. Regardless of the reasons for this sadistic toxicity, it is obvious that no amount of factchecking and argumenting can make them change their behaviour. Since there is a possibility that someone related to Gabby might read these comments, let us simply ignore the members of the murderer's fanclub and keep the conversation civil, respectful, compassionate and fact-based. P. S. Six months ago it became publicly known that on August 27th, Brian Laundry called his parents and admitted to them that Gabby was dead. He also told them that he needed a lawyer, who they then engaged two days later. Laundry' parents openly stated to the investigators that they DID in fact know about Gabby's death from their son long before her own parents knew that. These are all easily verifiable facts and now we hear even more details, so there is no need to argue with anyone who is busy victim blaming and blame shifting, to praise the murderer and his parents.

gotta teach our kids that once it gets physical/the police are called, the relationship is toxic (and over). gonna have to stage and intervention for your friends/family - getting out of an abusive relationship is just as difficult as quitting drugs.
@sr2291
@sr2291 5 ай бұрын
@_xBrokenxDreamsx_ Gabby called her mother from the backseat of the police cruiser. These statements are from the Petito v Moab lawsuit. 3. Gabby contacted her family to tell them that the couple had been fighting, that Brian had hit her, and that the police had been called. The family immediately responded by beginning to arrange for Gabby to fly home and to have her van shipped home, to separate her from Brian. 98. Gabby then called her parents. 99. On that call, Gabby’s parents demanded that Gabby fly home to get away from Brian, offering to pay for her ride to Salt Lake City and her flight home. But upon learning that the police were involved, Gabby’s parents accepted Gabby’s assurances that she should continue her trip. Gabby’s parents relied to their detriment on the police officers involved to evaluate the situation and intervene as necessary to protect Gabby. But for the officers’ failure to investigate and follow Utah law, Gabby’s parents would have intervened to end the trip and bring Gabby home.

I have no idea why you are displaying such pathological hatred toward the murder victim and her family, while trying to misrepresent her killer as some kind of a victim, but even if you are related to the Laundries it still does not give you the right to minimize violence and murder, and equate victims with their killers. Make sure you and your family and friends know what healthy relationships (green flags) look like versus unhealthy ones (red flags). We have to know how to recognize, avoid, and break the patterns. Research shows that the abuse victim goes back to the abuser an average of five times. This is because the abuse situation is at least known, unlike the unknowns of leaving, and the victim often lacks the support needed to escape. I didn't know when I was younger and ended up in an unhealthy and unsafe first marriage. He hid his alcoholism until after the wedding, and with it came emotional abuse and then property damage. I know it was only a matter of time before I'd be physically hurt too. After having to divorce him for my safety and health, I educated myself and was able to quickly end a couple dating relationships when I saw the red flags. Now, I'm four years into a healthy marriage.

This belief is often compounded by their past relationships and experiences, perhaps they were raised around people with narcissistic and sociopathic tendencies so it normalized the behavior instead of giving them the ability to see red flags. @sr2291
@sr2291 4 ай бұрын
@joshwoodson1786 I have no idea. She called her mother to tell her that Brian had hit her and they did nothing. Gabby called her mother from the backseat of the police cruiser.

There is plenty of blame to go around here, including to both sets of Gabby Petito's parents. Laundrie's sister contacted at least one parent while Gabby went to stay with her, imploring them to come get Gabby because she and Laundrie needed to be split of. They did not. When one of Gabby's friends told her father that Laundrie took her car keys so that she couldn't go out with her friends, the father could have gotten her out of the Laundrie house then, but he did not. NEITHER Laundrie or Gabby had JOBS. They both wanted to smoke pot and hang out all day. Gabby moved in with the Laundries at 18 because she refused to enroll in college full time, refused to get a full-time job if she wasn't going to go to college full time, and refused to help around the house with her mother's other children. Yet ALL parents facilitated this disastrous cross country van trek! When Gabby Petito called her father from a hotel room while Laundrie was back in Florida doing God know what at a storage unit, did HE fly out there and take his daughter back with him? NO. He sent a pizza.

I hate this family....They take ZERO responsibility, and blame everyone but their daughter and themselves- its tragic what happened, but all they do is point fingers

So, she wrote a letter about him calling her names, and he owned a crossbow that had nothing to do with the crime…? That’s news?

Gabby's parents kicked her out, that's when she hooked up with Brian. And she was the physical abuser, she should have been arrested.

@@SummerDays-ut5gt wait. When they were stopped by cops and separated, she had a red cheek like he’d slapped her. Do you remember that? They were a toxic couple. His notes were about killing himself. So he wasn’t a normal dude either. Who leaves a gf dead and just drives back home???

@@MM-xh6dp I remember he had scratches, bruises and bleeding, particularly on the right side of his head because she was striking him with the corner of her phone while he was driving. I also remember her stating that she hit him first. It all could have been avoided had she been arrested but I completely agree, they were a toxic couple.

@@SummerDays-ut5gt So what would have happened if she was arrested? Would she have gone home to mommy and daddy or would she have just hooked up with him again? They seemed bent on staying together no matter what.
