I worked for an ABC affiliate in 2006-2008. I can absolutely concur and confirm the news media relies on police to let them look call logs to find calls that might be interesting to do stories on. We also rely on them to give us updates on larger criminal cases as well. We would regularly meet with local, state and national politicians as well. It was always walking a line between reporting wrong doing and not pissing them off.

And this is why I canceled my cable 2 years ago and quit watching local news from St. Louis. I was raised watching local and national news networks back when there was better real journalism. All about fluff and ratings and now Im seeing cronyism cover up. I found several online news outlet's I've been getting my information from, and within the last year or so found 1A audit videos that have confirmed some gut fealings about local government and policing in America. I believe this is the first video from James I've seen, but felt like he's not about the shock value as much as trying to expose the truth which is what Im a fan of. As a former newspaper reporter, I think it's necessary to shuffle the beats because reporters get buddy buddy once they've been on the beat for too long and forget they're supposed to report news and not be their pals. A collegial but adversarial relationship is necessary.
